This village is too damn small. We descend into intertribal rivalry at the drop of a hat (which can be fun but let's not take ourselves too seriously).
We can't possibly evaluate whether the coaching and support set up for the Pride is effective after one game.
Also, there seems to be an instinctive attack mentality (on basis of assumptions - are they paid, how much does the team cost to run, what do they all do, are some of them there to learn) and an equally instinctive counter attack defence.
I hope all you chatterers here actually get down and support the team on Sunday. Let's leave the question of evaluation until we've had at least half the season under our belt. The point if me posting the team pic was really just a "wow" kind of statement, not positive or negative BECAUSE ITS WAY TOO EARLY TO JUDGE!

Danny H is involved with Cashmere Tech's side heading up to the Napier Tourny at Labour Weekend so unlikely any news on what he will be up to in 2014 until after Labour Weekend.

What is your problem dude?

You can ascertain what your opponent is afraid of by observing the means by which he attempts to frighten you

Joe Hall has the ability to be a top coach, not that he isnt already. 1 for the future and 1 we need to keep in Canterbury. Very sound technical and tactical view on how to play the game.

LOL. Bay$ with a $ and then Pitman off to "cash reserves". The link is tenuous but it did make me giggle. Please also note, exact quotes...

Looking at the Christchurch United Facebook page looks kie they are not that far away from naming their new coach as well.

I see (over in the Napier U19 thread) that Aaron Spain was named in the Napier U19 tournament team.

Second best team in South Island yeah wrong.
Are they a large club or a little club? Seems like they don't know which one they want to be.
Maybe Looking for a club that has full coaching team.

Jordan was the Cashmere player who missed his penalty in the Napier final.

That's the drawback on letting your players play for Tech in this tournament.

I read the Bays website article. I don't think he's that wrong. Bays were SI Champs in 2012 and Tech in 2013 and both of these teams have dominated the MPL for the past 3 years.
As for size of clubs. I think Tech are a big club both in number of registered players and Bays quite small in their player base. He's probably comparing that in saying Bays have done well under these circumstances.
Will be interesting to see who takes the reigns there next season.

Facts and opinions from me. I enjoy some of your comments and laugh at how wrong some are.

Aaron Spain, a very talented lad, is not being targeted by CTFC He made the tournament team but even he does not know how. He will confirm no pressure to join CTFC, but enjoyed a great tournament at a good price. If only Mainland offered such value.

Jordan Halligan had a very good tournament and was critical to CTFC's success in reaching the final, especially after Cory Mitchell dislocated his shoulder during the round robin. A missed penalty is not a crime. if you have had the nuts to step up you will probably have missed one or two yourselves. I have and I have my name on Penalty King trophies. A kick saved is not a miss in my book.

National Finalists at Premier U19's

National Finalists at Nike U14's

National and South Island Masters Champions

Not to forget

MPL, South Island and NZ Chatham Cup Champions

2013 was some year for this young club.

Couple of rumours from weekend at coastal u19 tournament.

Adam Highfield to coastal from bays. Russel Kamo & Mike White to tech from bays.

Dan Terris retiring from tech. Dan Ede to Selwyn from tech. Andy Barton & Cory Mitchell to Coastal from tech.

Half of the western team to coastal also.

Sounds like coastal could be packed.. got to love rumours! Any others out there?

In case anyone is interested - Selwyn Div 1/Div3/U18 Preseason Starts up 19 November..

Why would Barton, Mitchell or Ede want to move ? They like winning.

Surely Kamo and White would have to train if they moved to CTFC. JB & DH insist on it.

Don't train at CTFC and you get moved on.

Terris will retire (from National League).

Lots leaving Tech? They had a very successful year, so why? Can understand retiring and perhaps shift to Coastal, but why Selwyn for Dan Ede? They barely stayed in Div1, although totally different style of play since change of coaching mid season.  Will be team to watch in 2014 if their pre-season schedule sent out to (prospective) players this week is anything to go by.
