Sounds like "CASH"mere Tech are out to buy the league title back this year.. Watch the transfers page on sporting pulse and this will be confirmed.

Today's clearances show the transfer to Bays has been cancelled for Schwartz and he is now approved to go to Woolston.

Paying that amount out to get a nil all draw with the bottom team.
Value for money, yeah right.

I see Nomads have won their third straight game in Div 1 and yet to concede a goal. Waimak next best with 2 wins and a draw with Nomds away to Waimak in the next round.

I knew a bloke named Martin whose nickname was SAUCE. "How did you get that handle?", I asked him. "Natural evolution", he replied. "Martin became Marty, became Tomarty, became Tomato....SAUCE!"

If i was a club administrator who put a team in div 1 that got smacked 24-0, I would expect to be sacked and the team drop about 3 divisions immediately. And where is that SBHS team this week? Still in DIV 1 and playing STAC. Now tell me how is it that SBHS and STAC get a DIV 1 team first year of high school? I don't recall that happening in the last 10 years. Anyone answer that?

I talked to a guy helping coach that side tonight (lost 0-24) and he had said there was no way this side could be  in D2 let alone D1.

looks like he was right.

still totally unsure why Nomads have chosen to stack their 14's.

Not really stacked Foal - just a coach trying to find a competitive-level grade for his team who are mostly 13th graders (including a a bunch who are Rep/Academy/APFA training group); so they need some competition and he wants to 'test' them playing up a grade. that old chestnut.

Yeah well Bay$ and Ca$hmere were always going to get stronger once Canty United players came back and it looks like it may have taken cashmere a bit of time for them to settle given the nil all v Chch Utd (if canty players played?). Don't think anyone saw that one coming. Given Nelson's ASB Championship application it will be interesting to see how things go for them this season.

Challenge for Coastal now that've got 15 from 21 points on the board is to keep going thru the hard grind of the 2nd round - and to keep Turnbull & Welbourn fit & scoring because only 3 teams have shipped more goals.Stretford End2012-04-29 20:29:12

Bit of a 'mare in The Press online regarding Tech losing their top spot in the Premier League and Nelson able to go top. Obviously looking at the un-updated version of the table on the Mainland website earlier in the week.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/sport/club-sport/6824249/Costly-draw-for-Cashmere-Tech

Don't they know in order to get credible information they need to come here?

On that note, I heard through a mate who heard it from the horses mouth (and I'm not having a laugh then) that the accusations about Tech paying big bucks aren't true. Boots and petrol apparently...

PDL A looks like fun this year. 2 points separate all 8 teams - admittedly after 3 rounds, and quick result check shows no team has won by more than a 2 goal margin. Good lord, perhaps PDL league is finally sorted (mostly thanks to clubs insistence on top 8 league I think). As to quality I've only seen one half of one game and it was pretty early-season-rusty looking to my eyes. Anyone else care to comment on the quality or even nature of the league?Stretford End2012-04-29 20:37:16

I keep telling you guys don't let the boring truth get in the way of an outrageous rumour ........ obviously they don't want those rumours confirmed, that's no reason to stop spreading them, fan the flames I say ....

Re the stories of payments their have been  some great local 'transfer' deals over the years, both these were in the old Southern League days.

One player received a racing horse (unsure if it was a part share or the entire nag) also one club offered a player a bike to get to training, which was then increase to a car (was a bit of a sh*tter) and another club then offered a better car, this one had a reg and wof.

Obviously not written by Gavin Searle, he's always on the money, no byline so probably not Tony Smith either

Rumour has it that the reason so many girls have been lured to Ca$hmere's top 2 womens teams, is a promise of tickets to the One Direction concert. I liked the old animated emoticons

Is it too inappropriate or desperate to say how much I missed you guys? People often ask where I get my gossip from, and this week it's all dried up.

Hopefully back to full health.

Slightly vim but you'll never walk alone as those dirty reds sing. Just make sure you look straight ahead or straight down, eyes must not veer left or right. Welcome back. Did everyone else make it thru? Gings? Timmy? Ronaldoknow? Foal?Luis? Let us know you're here guys. It's kinda different & we'll all make mistakes but just keep passing and moving & keep the chat up. Couple surprises MPL today!

So, we take a breather from MPL for Chatham Cup next week (sat 12th). Some clubs definitley drew short straw with harder first up games! Draw is:

FC90210 v Blenheim Rangers

Waimak v Ca$hmere

Selwn v Students

Chch Utd v Western

Coastal v MoneyBay$

Halswell v Nomads

Wakefield v FC Nelson

Suburbs v Richmond

No, Vim is not very happy but that is football.  Losing to the bottom side isn't good however they played a good game and took their chances. So be it. Close table now tho innit? 5 teams within 3 points make for the closest MPL in ages. Still plenty to go tho.

In the junior leagues, I see the school teams got smashed by clubs this wknd in 14's and 15's with Shirley Boys unable to even field a team in 15's Div 1. Defo time to pull the pin.

FMD that didn't take much. New site looks like a bit of an own goal the problems they've been having. Couldn't log in for a few days, terrible withdrawal capped off by poxy United beating Coastal yesterday. Bugger bugger bugger!
