Does anyone know when the ftc groups for 2013 will be notified or has this already happened?

FTC trials in late jan with groups named in early feb is what I've heard.

 TOL days in mid-late Jan

these will be players who did FTC this season, players who did the rep program and individual players asked in by FDO or respective clubs.

some  players who did FTC/NTC + Reps will not trial as they have already been selected for 2013.

Mainland's Fan email thingy confirms U21 league.

Given that no decision announced on dual-age bands or Youth structure it's my guess we will have status quo on that front.

Apparently numerous clubs meetings have led to sub-committees, which is generally a means to an end for the clubs on the sub-committee. Apparently #2: clubs are not seeing eye-to-eye with Mainland wishes. So looks like 15,17,18, PDL for 2013 will continue the "clusterfcuk" that Gings has coined. Net result: sharke for players/development/next generation of football in Canterbury.

Not surprised that the dual bands haven't been passed - too controversial.

10s and 11s will have city wide 'A' band & 'B' band with zonal C band. results will be collected but not published and the brackets are fluid so if you're getting thrashed you can drop down or if you're winning big you can move up.

12s will be as was and nothing else changes AFAIK.

MPL gossip - draw still being fought over with various clubs still debating it. Trips to nelson (number of trips and when) seems to be the common sticking point.

Trips to Nelson should not be an issue, those ChCh sides that travelled north once last season would expect two this season, and those that have two trip in 2012 would only have one this season, not that difficult surely. Meanwhile Suburbs will have at least ten trips south but I cannot ever recall them complaining.

You're right...they shouldn't be bothered. It should be nice and easy to do the draw. They all play each other in the first set of rounds, then they flip the draw so they play away to the teams they hosted in the first set. Then it flips back again with the teams who went to nelson once last year going twice this year.

...but thats faaaar too logical!

The MPL draft draw number3 is as bad as the first draft.

Number of trips to Nelson is not the issue just the fact of having clubs go two weekends out of three or in Coastal's case two trips back to back.

Not hard to fix those is it.

Bit of a mess then, as surely away trips must be months apart for the seven ChCh clubs. If you were away to Nelson in the first round then Nelson would be down here in round 8 and then you would be back up in Nelson for round 15, or am I missing something.

Coastal have scored the mini artificial pitch which is currently in a CBD gap filler.  Should be a good thing on the East side!

So lets start the 2013 MPL trasfer goss.

Kamo rumoured/fact? going to CashmereTech, Kerry Evans coaching the MPL team there.

Chris Anderson has been approached by Bays. Tom Batty moving but not back to Nomads.

More will be known by 15th January when pre season gets underway.

Kamo been chased by more than just Tech.  Ash being chased by a couple of clubs however surely he will stay with his present one.

Bays can have Chris Anderson.  I thought Batty was going back to Nomads, done deal but apparently not???

Should be an interesting pre-season tourney indeed!

no truck with carping and moaning Easterners

not much gossip but did hear 2 'idiosyncratic' junior coaches were looking for new pastures.

I heard Chris Anderson was playing for Nomads, likewise Tom Batty.
Bays to be missing a few from last season.

Carey Baird has been announced as WPDL coach at Halswell.

Parklands girls competing at ACFC U/17s, FC, Tech & Halswell confirmed for the boys draw. Still slots available for both genders.

Kamo to FC Ten83 is one I've heard quite a bit.

Have all the MPL coaches been announced? PDL too?

Go to the Fixtures/Results Standings Icon and there is now a drop down box (see link below) for the year, currently displaying 2012, select 2013 and the Mainland Men's draw is there.

 whoops

FTC sessions start week of Feb 25

and if NZF do not get the National Age Grade comp/tournament happening then Mainland send sides to Auckland in December.

I'm well in favor of gettign at least 1x age group national comp happening.

Burnley Academy had 1500 kids trial in Perth for next intake of players.

Burnley [West Aust] have put a hold because of the above number until January on getting the Chch branch up and running.

Clubs that seem to be in the mix are CashTech, Selwyn, Nomads and Waimak as being the clubs to host the intro camps.

This topic finally got some air in The Press this morning.

Not new news and didn't mention clubs involved.

Start date set for April with each age grade having 8 players at each module.

Be interesting to see how this complements/clashes/fits with FTC programme. I note the pathway for NZ players is via Perth though. As previously mentioned somewhere the Perth Burnley Academy sides that played here last October were decidedly average.

The kids that came to NZ only on trial to help selection process for this years intake.

I maybe wrong on this but doubt it.

how can it not clash with FTC and/or individual clubs in-house set-up's?
I of course assume they not taking the kids who missed out on those 2 avenues.

Hmm, maybe I've got it completely wrong (ok you don't have to make the obvious riposte there). Looks like McMann and Allen will 'co-ordinate the Canterbury programme' - a "comprehensive coach education training programme". So Burnley are only coaching the coaches at Canty clubs - CashTech, Selwyn, Waimak and Nomads? Really just a "come to our club because..." bauble. Do others read it like this?

McCann and Allen to coach the coaches

Those Coaches then coach players

Which again begs the question, what players?

BTW I hear AFPA will take not FTC part-timers this year. And anyone know what the CTFC scheme is regarding players doing both?

Far out Canterbury, why does your club/league set-up have to be so complicated lol

the burnley thing is quite interesting...if it works out. will it be another APFA vs mainland situation?

Permalink Permalink

I'm guessing so, which will make things interesting come Canty selection time with two groups of (allegedly) the best players out of contention.

Speaking of rep selections - heard that a hurunui group is pushing for entry into junior south island champs instead of being under the north canty (waimak) banner

Bays uping the cash again. 10K to one player if what i've heard is true.

Bays have clearly stated they only play responsible travel expenses - not their fault their players have to travel a bit further, Ferry Road is  bloody long.

If this is indeed true, then Mainland Football need to step up. Otherwise all hell is gonna break loose with payments all over the show. ie: worse than what is happening now.
