Wasn't that Jamie Duncan?

Jamie is Blair's older brother. Blair played a few dragons games in 08-09?

Not sure why AW82 thinks Nomads are going to be able to manage a draw against Bays. Here's my picks.  One year we did a picking comp, that was fun.

Don't know if he does, the 1-1 result was my pick. Bays will struggle this year.

I know Jamie did, not sure about Blair.
Jamie still plays for Team Wellywood.

Oh that makes a whole lot more sense then. Wouldn't have picked the seasoned professional to think that Bays were going to be easy-beats.

Looks like all the senior draws are up. 5 teams in the u/21s is a bit of a disappointment IMO.

still nothing for the juniors

Wow didn't realize the league was starting already. To be honest Nelson look like a very mixed side this year. I don't think they'd beat the Nelson Falcons youth team considering some of its bench players have walked into the starting line up for this weekend. Johnny Gough is a handy addition at CB after playing for FC Nelson and there are two new foreigners (that aren't solys either). They're really going to miss a decent number nine, surprised Omar from the Falcons didn't get the call up from over in Blenheim.

Interesting article about Bays and Tech, other clubs get a little mention.

Big news is the ginger crooner Ric Astley's transfer hasn't come through in time (nor has Stu Kelly).  Hopefully both have come through in time for some classic jibes (jives) from the sideline.

5.30pm Saturday - no updates on Mainland site; nothing here. Come on people. This is supposed to be the age of instant communication. What are today's results?

Cashmere won 4 zip over Halswell

Bays won 3-1? I heard over Nomads

Western thrashed Western B 1-0 through a dodgy penalty and a woeful muddly mid-field performance from the B team who were missing 5 first choice players. The B's dominated the 2nd half without testing the keeper while the A's had the better of an average first half. 0-0 at half time with the penalty (which Eddie Ashton almost saved) coming about 10 mins into the 2nd half.

Haven't heard the result between Fc2013 and the Burbs

I agree. Needs to be more updates throughout the day. I checked heaps of times today and Mainland not updated either.  Let's do a twitter if we can't do this.
Sad face, dodgy penalty.

3 outta 4 right, with Bays on the money and one goal off the other two. Let's not talk about the Coastal game.

Coastal to beat Nelson 2-1, Western to beat Halswell 2-1, Tech to smash Nomads 4-0 and Bays to beat FC 4-0.

And even less time if you take into account Easter. If we don't see them today I'm guessing it won't be until Monday. Which gives us f-all time to sort out any issues.  Last year I remember seeing an excel spreadsheet sent to clubs ages before asking whether 'this is correct'.  We've got no chance now.

Don't bother with the Mainland & Stuff websites for updates, follow www.ultimatenzsoccer.com/Scoreboard/southern_regional_leagues.htm

and get results hot as they had the 3 games last Sat on by 6pm.

It took a few more hours before late game [6pm Kick off] went up but still same day.

Yer top site that one.  We need a central space where we can update live tho especially when games are on at the same time.  I wanna be able to check my phone and say "ooh, Ric Astley just got sent off for tackling James Brown on stage" or something similar.

I try and keep the Coastal twitter updated (depending on location and consumption of alcohol) perhaps we could use that or another twitter account or hashtag.

Well one draw is up online, so all those people waiting for the 10th grade girls can relax.

With Foal saying draft grades have gone out to clubs it means they have started the process of sorting them.  Didn't the season finish in September? What's happened since then?

I assume they can't do the draw until clubs enter teams? Have clubs been slow in completing rosters? Can't think of any other reason, although Emily Toase was away on holiday for 2 weeks very recently which may have held things up.

Have Mainland created an issue by allowing clubs to submit teams in preferred grades making it virtually impossible to roll over from one year to the next? Terry Blacktopp and Ian Goodwin use to do a fine job of this as volunteers.

What went on at the Mainland and Clubs meeting on Wednesday night. Hear de Bono didn't get away until after midnight.

Are we going to see big changes in the top level of local football?

Hopefully there will be changes and not just a talk fest.
