Seems pretty rich for Mainland to hassle the CCC when they haven't played their part with draws etc.

Women's PFL underway on Saturday - Coastal to run away with title again - will not be as bigger gap then 2012 (only because only three full rounds).

Games are Halswell vs. Cashmere Technical, University vs. FC Twenty11 and Western vs. Coastal Spirit

Shame we are making headlines (front page of The Press, lead item on the radio) for not having fields rather than what we are achieveing on the fields.

It's a disgrace. What were the council thinking?

Wish they'd hurry up and say exactly which games are on and which are off.

Can't believe the shambles! CCC have known when cricket is finishing and winter codes starting for ages! Useless! Saying that, only one set of posts at Brookside park in Rolleston are up on a senior field, and that's after players put them up at Tuesday training. Wondering what the Selwyn District Council are doing? Do the councils all know something no-one else does?  I live across the road from Brookside and always remember posts going up much earlier than I would expect each season, so was wondering on the delay for this year. Someone knows something they aren't letting on.......

Div 1 Sewyn due to play Waimak this weekend up at Kendal Park, so wondering have the Waimak Council dropped the ball as well or are they at least up to scratch?

I would say Waimak is fine - as they have had Pre season tournaments running for the past month or so.

Selwyn council doesn't mark the pitches at Brookside - everything is done via local club involvement.  Delay with that would've been poor organisation I would assume.  Like most things - if you want a job done properly - do it yourself - organise club days etc.

Kendall Park definitely ok.  All posts and lines are there. Scored a goal there so know first hand!  :-)

Just received an email from our club stating "only Mens Premier
Football League, Womens Premier League, PDL and Mens Div 1 will be playing on
Saturday. " Guess i'll have to watch the FC20 first team again :(

Mainland Football is extremely disappointed at having to postpone the start of a significant number of football competitions this weekend due to fields not being marked and ready on time.

The usual process of negotiating with Christchurch City Council about which fields would be required and which were available following the conclusion of the cricket season had taken place across February. Council was advised in February that all the grades were starting this weekend but they did not start marking fields early enough.

Competition staff at Mainland have been working overtime to amend draws in order to get as many games played this weekend as possible.

The following Grades will play – please check our website for details.
Robbie’s MPFL
Mainland Foundation PDL
Robbie’s Men Divisions 1, 2, 3, 4 ,5 and 6
Robbie’s U21s
Robbie’s Men’s Pres A and B
Robbie’s Men’s Master Div 1
Robbie’s Women Divisions 1 and 2
CCSL Divisions 1, 2, 3, 4and 5
18th Grade Girls
14th Grade Girls Div 1 and 2
Spagalimis 18th Grade Schools Div 1
Spagalimis 18th Grade Clubs Div 1
Spagalimis 17th Grade Div 1
Konica Minolta 15th Grade Div 1
Konica Minolta 14th Grade Div 1
Konica Minolta 13th Grade Div 1
Konica Minolta 12th Grade Div 1

All other grades have been postponed. Where your Club runs First Kicks or Fun Football in house, please check with your club as these may be able to go ahead.

Expect PR spin from Council tomorrow to counter Coggan's comments today.

Yes but facts are facts the winter season starts from 1 April and have done so for years, Easter and the school holidays are just red herrings. Expect marking to be an on going issue as heard the council contractors (City Care) are no longer marking pitches permanatly (i.e. using grass killer) but going to use white wash so pitches will have to be re marked regularly during the season.

In general clubs don't put the posts up until the fields are marked. City care have put on 13 additional staff to assist the 2 that normally do the grounds. 12 of them are working the whole weekend and all of next week to get it sorted ......... too little to late .........

Looks like this info is wrong, Danny was down at Garrick Park this arvo, wearing Cashmere Technical colours, but now focusing on Tech's PDL team.
