Not really, countless times in the past I have seen the addition of "star" players part way through a season only for that to upset the rhythm of the team and cause its form to nosedive. Not that I am saying that is what will happen with Suburbs.

I need to watch Waimak games.

Some of the coaches are the same in the 15th Grade Waimak team and just as bad!

Pre-season Waimak had a player run on and get involved in an on pitch altercation, and the ref bottled it and let him away with it... oh hang on it was their own tournament!

There's a Waimak girls team with a pretty bad reputation around town. Thing is, it's driven by the coach/ref, and the parents and players come to think ref bias and win at all costs mentality is ok. Coaches and refs are supposedly being educated before taking on a team/game these days. Should parents go to sideline behaviour classes before signing up kids to sport. What about that Auk football club "no cheering" thing in the media last week? As a coach who has told parents directly that I don't want my defender to "hoof it long" I empathise but passion is a big part of the game, it just needs to be directed positively. Rant over.

Donga might not make a huge difference to the squad, but I'd say Feni will. He's class!

Western losing a centre back.

Nomads will be hoping to get a CB back from injury picked up in the Chatham Cup game v Halswell.

So you never played against Woolston Tech as it was then? If you think Waimak are bad.

Chatting to a CashTech bod last week he reckons they have calmed down a lot since WT days.

No never had the pleasure of Woolston Tech. They were gone before I came back to the playing ranks. Weren't there in my old superyouth days either.
Any ideas on the Waimak player banned. I have my suspicions as to who it would be, but don't want to speculate on who it is as I do actually get on quite well with a couple of them.

Is that from the firm of SKPR? That's what agents do to up his price - create supposed demand!

That's an awesome rave write up intended to rile local supporters, hope to read more like that. Huge rivalry in what is looking like a very tight league this year. They forgot to mention the cash Bays have splashed to put in a performance like that. Shame our local media coverage isn't as passionate!

Anyone got any further goss on the Uni appeal? Must be due in by now.

Every person I have spoken to says a 27 point deduction is ridiculous and over the top.

Will sanity prevail?

They have a week to lodge the appeal which must be about now. Yes I am sure there will be a few twists and turns over the next week or two. Maybe we need to start watching Div 1 games as they seem more exciting than many MPL games.

So what with the outcome be:

a) all points restored

b) some points restored

c) status quo - i.e. current situation with appeal to NZ Football

Has to be all points restored, isn't that what they are going for? Appears there is a lot of support and being Uni student's I'm sure the appeal is fairly persuasive! Let's hope common sense prevails and the admin get the punishment

Yes I hope but if previous history re appeals is anything to go by common sense does not seem to come into it.

Will be interesting to see how the punishment was arrived at. How has Mainland proved that player was in the team sheet if they do not have the all the team sheets.

Is it fact that the player concerned was on the team sheet for all games in question.

I hear another MPL coach has gone. Was he pushed or did he walk?

Is there another protest in the wind?

All these question and not halfway through the season.

Is that all?  A MPL team on a Div 4 team - wouldve thought the score wouldve been more than that.

There is previous history here - a few years ago when he played in the ASB premiership for Otago United out of ChCh with a few other ChCh based players he ran the training sessions here for the locally based Otago players.

mpl coach? Hmm can't be Nelson!. Would have to be one of Halswell or Ca$hTech who probably aren't getting the results they believe they are capable of. As for the Protest... who has a prior record of protesting? (asides from Mainland?) Those are my guesses.
