beat me to it JB. 100% not Jordan who ever it is.
Mainland Premier League (Part 2)
Yer it's a shame that people fake others names as it does cause a whole heap of trouble. I've got no problem with people cheering on their team and singing when they're winning as long as it doesn't get personal which it has done in the past.
This doesn't happen very often but I have to applaud the Tech coach's care for our players when we had a number of injuries and our physio was busy dealing with one issue when another could have been bad. If only he was a bit more gracious and asked his players to stop shooting and scoring goals then he would have gone further up the scale. The message must have got through by the time the penalty was taken.
Friday night
Uni v Coastal still on?
according to mainland website Coastal got the points

Ha brilliant! Looks like the game was played behind closed doors due to the poor behaviour of fans.

I hope not! Friday night football is alright by me.
Good job on Saturday to John. Congragulations.
a wee story from Saturdays game against Coastal, my mate Ekow who likes the way Tech play, said to me as I was walking out at half time. Hey Browny wee have got your number today brother , you won't get near our goal today. Poor bugger thought it was a 6 o'clock kick off, didn't realise it was 2 0 ?

Yes did not win a game in the 22 game season (12 teams), lost all 22 games scored 7 conceded 132.

I was plaing for Varsity that season - they were bloody woeful as well, thankfully Woolston were just on another level of bad

Universities record in 2002 P 22, W 5, D 3, L 14, 30 goals for and 63 against. Both Woolston WMC and Universities automatically relegated, to get back to a 10 team league with ChCh Technical also relegated after losing the play-offs with Cashmere Wanderers over two legs 4 - 3 on aggregate.
Any chance that a South Island League could one day be reformed? DN Tech, Caversham (money might be tight), Mosgiel/Roslyn from Southern?

I think its still 5-10 years away to be honest. Nelson, tech & Bays would probably be the only clubs in MPL with the cash to be able to do it
As a side note what sort of budget would a team need, doesnt include any player payments. Thinking an 8 Team league, 3 Dunedin, 1 Nelson, 4 Christchurch. Three rounds. 21 games.
Average of
7.5 Away trips per Dunedin Team
6 for the ChCh Teams
10.5 for the Nelson

Looking at my records Woolston WMC had three double figure losses 12 - 0 to ChCh Technical, 11 - 1 to New Brighton and 10 - 1 to Ferrymead Bays plus five 0 - 8, two 0 - 6, three 0 - 5, three 0 - 4 and two 0 - 3 defeats.
Only scored a single goal in seven games - goals scorers were Dave Bonniface 4, Guy Francis and Hayden Bevan plus and own goal. .
It might be closer than you think. NZ Football reviewing competitions for changes to start in 2017 I hear.
It needs to be urgently addressesd.
We will end up withh CTFC in every grade,
Then maybe Coastal and FC2011
Then (hopefully) Selwyn, Waimak and Halswell in 2 year bands
And the rest of the clubs fighting for scraps.
I don't want to sound like a broken record but if you have no junior program then you have no Senior
Uni 1 - Coastal 1
Another goal for GT
great game of footy between 2 good sides. Best game for me I've seen thus far.. Thought uni were good for the 3 points on chances created
Big game in Div 1 today - Selwyn v Nomads. Should be interesting to see how Selwyn stacks up v Nomads who are sitting top of the table.
Also - Padmore for Canterbury United Coach?
Aren't Nomads only 2nd behind FC?
Aren't Nomads only 2nd behind FC?
No
selwyn dismantled Nomads 5-0
Great team effort today from the stallions. Great tactical team selection today. Things starting to gel nicely.

Selwyn 5 nomads 0
If Selwyn get promotion they would take it? So teams in both PL for 2016
Be a real achievement if it happens.
Be a good thing for Chch football.
Good wins for the top 3 sides in Canterbury this week.
Decent draw for the average sides
Aren't Nomads only 2nd behind FC?
No
They're not now.... But were prior to today's game.

And they were MPL last season. Another good win for Waimak today as well.
The Times They Are a-Changin
Anyone from Nomads got an account on today? Players missing etc maybe?? Surely Selwyn aren't that much better?

Speech today from Nomads was basically - they had good training and were in a good headspace! However they didn't turn up. HT was 1-0 and they felt ok - however after some mistakes in the backline, Dan Ede pounced and not long score blew out to 4-0 (Dan got another hatrick today) then another goal not long after.
Fairly one way traffic - The wind out at brookside may have helped Selwyn in the second half - however end of the day - that's football.
Selwyn good for the win no excuses from me.
Burns not there today moving to Australia in a week to take up a contract to play.
Must say same as every other game this season finally an opposition that could put it in the onion bag.
Selwyn 1 up at half time from then on some days you just have those games. How Nomads play on Monday will be interesting can they put two passes together without giving the ball away.

Thought Nomads were very poor throughout, Selwyn have been improving in recent weeks and have only been denied big wins in last 3 games by the opposing keepers having excellent games.

Interesting, so after 1 round. Who is favourite to get promoted from div 1?
That makes interesting reading AW, both leagues being lead by recently merged clubs based in the south or east of the city who suffered the most in terms of loss of facilities and supposed player exodus due to earthquakes. Bays, who probably lost the most players, the odd one out as they struggle to stay with the pack in the men's PL but even they sit above the rest of town which is all much of a muchness. I know Halswell are being impacted by the setup at Selwyn but what's going on with Western, Nomads, FC, ChCh Utd? Is Uni having an impact on all of those clubs?
