As recent two weeks ago, MF confirmed there are 5 clubs in town that have a 2018 CY licence. Halswell is not one of them.

so what if they don't at this stage. does it make any difference to appointing a new fdm? absolutely not! Any club trying to tick the boxes so to speak for the license for next season would be doing the right thing for the better of the game

Benchwarmer...breaking the biggest stories since the formation of this forum ??

How about you let us in on some Parklands gossip and tell the group what has happened to the big ginger and the two brothers that gave your team a little, tiny bit of technical ability ?

17 May 15:09

The 2 brothers that are still playing for us? As I’ve stated previously we’ve had an injury crisis and so if you were at one of our games and they weren’t then that’s the reason!

One of the said brothers played last weekend!

As Red Devil has already stated, the Big Ginger as you put has moved onto pastures new due to personal reasons.

All of our players have been accounted for, we’ve just been very unlucky with injuries this season and so for the past month or so had up to 7 or 8 first team squad members out injured. It’s interesting hearing all the rumours on here and even when we’ve stated everyone is accounted for and there’s no truth in the rumours no-one believes it anyway lol

What's with all the shade being thrown at Parklands?

I was thinking the same. Selwyn played them last week and 5-0 was a flattering score. Parklands seem to be trying to improve on and off the field. If they get a full squad back they will continue to improve for sure.

lol who cares about parklands

It’s a rematch on Tuesday in the English Cup too

Given the tightness of the league, I reckon a few CCL coaches might be looking at some transfer action prior to June 30 close off. By that time the bottom 3 MPL teams will be known (if not already). Any quality players in that bottom 3 who might be tempted to jump to Walter Park, Halswell Domain or over the Waimak?  Will the New Rams continue their buying strategy mid season or wait until season is over and start again?

stu kelly leaving united for the better surfaces at halswell domain... will be confirmed soon as the new fdm and will be available as a player if required is the latest I have heard. have not heard of anything else so far apart from a few unhappy at waimak and parklands

Sounds like the unhappy few at Waimak have gone to FC2011

18 May 19:27
Must be more than a few unhappy at Waimak. Only one player came back for after match food/drinks/speeches after the Chatham Cup last week. #manaakitanga #morekaiforme

mak lose again, well done benchwarmer! halswell keep stringing the wins together and western drop points. western v halswell game shaping up as a big game already, is halswell get past united next week a potential 8 point or 2 point differential would be a real confidence boost or kick in guts. interesting if kelly would walk straight in for such a important game. did see on the cubs facebook page that he is available to play only if needed though??

19 May 07:47

The boys battled well again today and probably the key was keeping composure when Waimak lost it at times.

Rumours that 2 Waimak players were handed red cards after the game for words said to the ref, including one entering the refs changing room!

history repeating itself. think it happened a few years back also

Anyone know how the Burwood player is that was taken off in an ambulance? Not great to hear when players from any teams require hospital treat

Understand he was knocked out but came around before being taken by ambulance for observation.

Was speaking with someone at Halswell last night and they were saying he hasn't started his role yet and so hasn't transferred over currently.

Obviously also handy that he was playing against one of their rivals for the top spot in the league and they took 2 points off Western.

Western close the gap on Halswell with Western facing the Hawks next Saturday, Burwood host Waimak and ChCh Utd take on Parklands (Friday evening)

26 May 20:28

At the Parklands Game on Saturday (I was watching the Div2 game) but did I hear booing at the final whistle?  Benchwarmer can confirm?

Haha was just banter from some of the reserve team guys, who have started to create a bit of an atmosphere at the games. Think it's come from the Coastal influence we have on the sidelines ;)

I see on the Mainland website that it shows 'No Ground' so is Yaldhurst Road out of action for all games?

what a shambles! You have an artificial surface yet cannot use this if parklands surface not up to scratch given recent rain.. I would certainly hope that both teams are not using this as an excuse to play later on due to players missing with a long weekend? If so, sort ya crap out as other teams will be experiencing exactly the same thing. Mainland need to grow some balls also if this is the case

Will be interesting to see if the Kate Sheppard Cup (formerly the old Women's Knock Cup) between Halswell and Universities scheduled for Monday at 7:30pm at Yaldhurst Road it deferred.

It is a home game for ChCh United, not Parklands

Nothing to do with the pitches, based around the confusion on the day of the game, original fixtures had game as a Saturday and to be able to change both teams have to agree to the change. This was not the case as one team did not agree to the switch.

The other team then were unable to play Saturday, despite agreeing to it earlier in the week, and so Mainland have intervened and deferred the game until a mutually beneficial time

Reserve teams for both still play at Yaldhurst on Saturday so no issue with the pitches

wouldnt disagree with either of those assertions. Big game tomorrow at walter park, may just head along, 6 point gap even with 2 rounds to play would certainly be a confidence boost. who is everyone picking?

Think Western will have an eye on their Chatham Cup match on Monday.

Having watched most of 2nd half of Halswell v United last weekend I'd put my money on Western.

Totally agree Liverpool for eva. Suggest that yaldhurst is already booked for Saturday as they need the money. Either default or play at Parkland. Or both lose the points. Yep Mainland need to grow a pair.
