it was a mistake by one person as they thought they needed to  register her to play for Tech at AFC 17 so after fault was realised she was transferred back as she was always going to be guess player , either that or we got the wrong colour of car for her?

Look out they'll be head hunted by NZF!

So the story I heard goes like this: apparently Selwyn tried to enter a team in the WPDL after the senior team was decimated by the McCann exit, McExit. Mainland refused - wouldn't grant age dispensation to a number of players. Yet every other club agreed to play them on the BYE weekend, except FC20 who refused (ouch, #rivalism).

Presumably Mainland won't supply refs or grounds or enter results but I imagine Foster Park or another Selwn Council ground will be available. So the girls will play, don't pay Mainland any levies and everyone is happy, except perhaps FC20 and Mainland.

Meanwhile, Mainland have just released a list of age dispensations (denied and granted) on their website - yet not one from Selwyn.

Interesting. Anyone confirm or deny any of this story?

(As an aside, in the photo of club captains released by Mainland for their "season launch", the Waimak WPL captain is still 14 years old and required dispensation to play; guessing it's safe to say it will be a young team; judging by the fact that Waimak applied for age dispensation for 11 players to play Womens Prems and Reserves).

Kotahitanga. We are one.

Surely not. That would be an embarrassment on all counts.

CapF have a requirement that only a few age dispensations can be on a team card

That dispensation page on Mainland's website was quite interesting. Will that make any difference to teams this weekend?

Friday result

FC Twenty11 0 Parklands 0.

FC Twenty11 retain Hawkey Shield - next defence against Cashmere Technical

Waimak dispensations appear to be for pdl except for a couple of NTC 14's turning 15. Makes sense.

Most of the pdl dispensations are NTC too. Given Waimak had about 1/3 of the younger NTC players last year you would expect more dispensation requests from that club. Playing them in 15th grade would be a waste of time. Pdl seems sensible.

Tasman up 1-0. Ten to play in first half.

You can ascertain what your opponent is afraid of by observing the means by which he attempts to frighten you

FC Twenty11 2 (Lee Moate-Cox - pen, Jemma Dockerty) Tasman United 2 (Ruby Smith, Tiana Williams) HT 1 - 1

Good game will Tasman well worth their point and Briar pulling off several great saves to deny Tasman the win.

Could probably have been 4-5 more if not for Briar. Immense!

Might make a bit of difference to how FC want to line up their 17/19's. A declined player is potentialy the coach's son for starters.

Anyone else find this funny?  Sure the men are top (after 1 game), however the women have played two games, drawn both, while 4 of the seven teams haven't even played once! Not even I would brag that much on Facebook!

Yes a bit like a club topping the table after a few rounds, having a big win and their coach standing up at the after match saying they are going to win the league and then not even finishing in the top half of the table.

Laura Merrin has tweeted she never gave The Sun permission to write anything about her. And added the JFT96 tag. Good girl.

I suppose if we're going to be picky we should also point out that the women have the worst defence record of the season so far .

I have no idea but I'm guessing that's another dig at Coastal?   #brokenrecord

Far from it, bloody hard for anyone to have a dig at the Coastal Women's team that have won five on the bounce and a few more before that.

More a case of saying no one should be counting chickens until they hatch.

Any reports from ACFC U17 tourney? The 4 Canterbury teams finished 5th to 8th, which means they ended up playing 3 of their 7 games against each other. A lot of these players will play WPL. Any thoughts from anyone who attended?

Coastal will have a report from their teams on their website shortly.

Sorry not at the game. Will hopefully post scorers after game - Annalie Longo has bagged at least a double.
