was ruled to have been the last man and fouled goal bound striker Seule Soromon i think
Permalink Permalink

After making a blunder and missing an unchallenged header at the back, Medland has chased down the striker who was in on goal and clattered him. Probably a fair red card.

the problem was that even after getting a haircut, shane "the shanesaw" medland still needs another one. his hair was in his eyes and he couldn't see.

this resulted in missing a free head and also mistaking the wairarapa striker's upper leg for the ball.
an honest mistake.

he'll be back after his match out, hopefully with a headband.

The Shanesaw.

I LOVE IT.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Id love to see the Shanesaw with a shaved head. He needs to make himself look a bit meaner. That might help his vision too.

Is miramar turning into wests? this seasons purchases: Shane Medlane, Gerrad Brown, Kieran Crips, Graham Mulvey, Jeremy Brockie, Tommy Smith and Tony (lastname unknown). On the horizon: Jacob Spoonley, Cole Tinkler, Sean Douglas?

truth: mar are paying most of those players. but most of them its not way more than they get anywhere else. i dont think they are the new wests, just 2008 everyone decided to play for them. its a strong club with alot of pride. although to get a game you have to play capital 12 or masters 2

First team are playing the U20s tonight at Ole. 6pm KO i think. Hes taking a squad of 20-something.

Anyway for those interested...

Drew 1 all with the 20s. Our first team played the first half with what was pretty much the second team in the second. Both goals were in the second half.

Good signs for the club with our youngies doing very well against the supposed best in the country under the age of 20. Not so good signs for the country however as they didnt seem much better than the clubs age equivalents.

Defensive test for Marist By TONY COFFIN - Manawatu Standard | Friday, 23 May 2008

Steve Green will be hoping his Marist side has finally turned the corner when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net when it meets table-topping Miramar Rangers at Memorial Park tomorrow.

In the Central League, Marist has struggled to score, with just eight goals in its six games although it has created plenty of chances.

But last week, in the first round of the Chatham Cup, it thumped in six second-spell goals to beat Gisborne City 8-2.

Green though will be looking for his defence to keep its concentration for the entire game.

Miramar boasts three strikers with former All White Jeremy Brockie, YoungHeart Manawatu's Dominic Rowe and Shane Medland, all experienced players above Central League level.

Miramar has had four wins and two draws and has scored 19 goals with just six against. Marist has been the reverse with four draws and two losses.

There's no doubt that with a strong YoungHeart influence in the Marist side, it has the players to match any team in the league. Like YoungHeart though, it needs to find its goal-scoring feet and the defence can't let opposition strikers freely get in behind the last defenders.

Even with its draw against another top side, Wellington Olympic, three weeks ago, Marist looked defensively weak at times.

Sure was.  He was in fine form today.  A couple of wonderful thirty yard sliding tackles in amongst generally tip top play and a wonder goal.

Mulvey should have had three.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Given I was Wellington-bound for the FIFA U17 WWC Finals draw yesterday, I thought I'd shoot down early enough in order to take in the Miramar v. Marist encounter in the Central Region Premier Women's League.

Apparently Chotes motivation was getting to mark his old flat mate Trotter. They had a side competition going on, where tackles, goals, nutmegs, and cards were all worth points.

You would think Chote would have won that little competition at a canter.

Tony Wall...of Taupo AFC - friendliest club in the country.

Fantastic young player, was invited to the Phoenix squad for their friendly against the under 23's.

Must be studying down here or something.

Amongst many others - sorry to those I've missed out, not thinking very clear - Tony, along with Wayne Shannon (at Uni in Otago - drinking with University I hear) Raymond How (still in Taupo, beating Tauranga City United), and his little brother Jesse (I think - could be wrong there) show that Taupo has a fantastic wee production line.

I'm sure many of you have heard/seen the name Alan Lamb - not the cricketer - who was on Newcastle United's (England, not...yeah) books and played for Walsall (like, Danny Hay - haha)

Former Solomon Islands' age-group goalkeeper Seamus Dendy Marten even came through there.

There's a guy called Gordon Williams that does all the work, along with John McCartney (I think) and a (sadly diminishing) group of volunteers.

Real good times in Taupo (the small while I was there) - if anyone ever gets the chance to be involved with that club - please do. Fantastic pitch(es), good players, fireplace in the clubrooms after training...can't say enough about it.

Was invited, but didn't get a run.

Talented fellow though.  He's talking about spending the summer down here meaning he'd be available for Miramar's U19s.

He's at Vic "studying".
