How many of your 1st team qualify to play in the U19s, Buff?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

All but 3. We must be favourites.

You'd go pretty close, I'd think.

Dunno. I'm haven't been involved with the club for most of the season, for personal reasons. I was asked to go down with the squad, but thought I might be one coach too many.

We've got rellies in Hawkes Bay so I might take a trip down anyway and watch some games.

Thankfully, no. The Board recognised that no coach could have done anything to prevent such a beautifully executed, tactical masterstroke paying off. Still haven't forgiven that linesman tho'.

Totally different side for rovers this year, i'd imagine pretty young with manily 15 16 17 year olds, only one super star this year.

I thought that the East Coast Bays team was fairly young last year. If they have the bulk of that team together the must be a chance of defending their title. Any comments from the Aucks on them?

biss, ball, martin, dol, fergusion, thompson, isslington, lucas, bevin. looking from the outside in they do seem to right themselves a bit to much.
think bevin is the only one remaining, possible isslington guest player.

no dunedin teams, even in satellite. Pretty poor show from the SI, considering Woolston Tech won it not long ago.

So I hear Karori has pulled out of Napier because their coach didn't think they could win the Satellite tournament.  Which means the college players that had signed up, can't play for another club unless they take a guest spot.  Pretty embarrassing I reckon.

if true thats ridiculous, do any teams go to napier actually thinking they are certaintys to win?
surely its more about player development and getting these young players into a club enviroment.

your right in saying if these players have played a game for karori in ivan england the only way they can now play in napier is as a guest player for another club... and dare i say it most clubs have already signed these up.

karori please explain.

He would be right. Wonder why they went in the previous seasons than if thats the reason they arent going. If you give up your spot you may not get it back either.

The club has genuine reasons for not attending and it's certainly got nothing to do with arrogance.

Not trying to take the piss or anything, but what pathway does Waterside Karori now offer for youth players breaking into senior football? From how I see it, the club have shown by their actions they don't believe in the concept of youth development. Their second team is essentially the Dreamers which is a closed team, meaning their 3rd team is their reserve team, which by all accounts is not doing very well. Surely Waterside Karori, a club with a huge junior club and a history of success, should have a pathway for school players breaking into senior football?

Didnt they have u21 teams this season. Maybe they dont have the funds to send a team to Napier, its not cheap.

Yes they did Nightz.

It can't be because they don't have enough players.  There are a million players that could play U19s in Karori.

Western would need some administrators with more vison than Cyclops, plus they have to enter and win the Satellite tournament before getting a crack at the title. Maybe in the 'too hard' basket?

I'm picking a Wellington team to win it this year - Everyone down here is talking up Lower Hutt as the team to beat.
