I will not have any of you besmirch the quality refering in NZ. Just the other day my team was playing our Striker rounded the keeper and put the ball in the net, the defender while the striker got his shot off went through his own keeper taking him out. The ref quite rightly ruled the goal out and gave the keeper a free kick because um well because.

There's also the Ref that quite accuratly added time onto the end of the game, the opposition here were a goal down with ten to play, their shooting sucked so much with the wind behind them a lot of balls went well behind the goal, as our keeper ambled over to pick them up the ref added all the time on for a 65 minute second half.

Then theres the ref who our player had a high foot and accidentally kicked a player in the head, the ref quite rightly gave us a free kick for the opponenet putting himself in a dangerous position. 

He should have hopped on his ride on mower.It would have been quicker.

Had a ref a couple weeks ago give an indirect freekick and a yellow card for the keeper making a save outside the box. Ball was going in, afterwards referee insisted to me that all handballs are indirect free kicks and that there was no DOGSO, even though he accepted the ball was going in.

Does my head in. I get that we're low on refs, but if that's your knowledge of the laws, you should still be training with an assessor and youth games, not out there ruining games for 30 players.

Your 3rd point is a completely reasonable call though, depending on the circumstances.

Tell me about it. He was a young kid, he had a reasonable game otherwise and could well turn out to be a decent ref, was just amazed he'd got to reffing without an assessor present with that gap in his knowledge.

Can we not turn this thread into the referee we had knew nothing - I think there is already a thread for that.

The focus needs to be for this incident that even if the referee made a mistake with an earlier call you can't go around headbutting someone and then running in and punching people - end of story.

For Fallon to be blaming the referee for getting the game to this point is crazy - players and coaches need to take responsibility and not misbehave and then they can take the moral high ground.

Might have been  checking the type of grass they have or how much sand was on the ground

Fallon is never wrong. There has never been a better coach in the existence of mankind than him so he always has the moral highground, even when he is wrong.

Seriously, the guy builds a personality cult even he's not actually your coach. I've played with a few girls formerly from MAGS a couple of years ago and they were wearing "BRING BACK KEVIN" t-shirts.

Onehunga 4 North Shore 1 at Allen Hill today. Shore were (and might still be ) top of the table but were pretty ordinary today. Misiing Nkoy and Dakwa (on holiday in Thailand ?)  but Onehunga had Lovemore and Milne on the bench (resting for cup game next week ?) and of course TAHW signed for Phoenix. Shore very ordinary and have some discipline issues , whilst Onehunga not that much better. Not sure that Onehunga would be the raging favourites for the cup game against Olympic next week that they seem to be.

Shore have had a charmed run this year and have kinda hit the top by default in some respects.
In their defence though, they seem to be well coached and play to their strengths.

I assumed he was a North Shore supporter? The match was at NSU, and he got a few claps of support when he got back to the ground. That was the worst bit.

The best bit was when players were getting red carded, they were going "who me, ref?". Classic......always deny, deny, deny

Heard a story that James Bannatyne got sent off for assaulting a referee vs East Coast Bays. Any truth to that?

He was on the sideline as a coach, and after a player had been stomped on the head he and just about everyone watching could not believe the officials did nothing about it. Most bizarre decisions all day just boiled over when this took place. No assault took place and no violent conduct by him that we saw and we were right behind him.... verbal spray it seemed?

Grabbed the assistant ref and swearing at them.

Also sounds like he was getting frustrated, I would be too when I am 2nd on the table and can't beat bottom place

Agree, if that's what took place. To be fair we were all focused on the incident in the goal mouth which was just awful, and the lino in question was a youngster who apart from missing the ECB keeper handle the ball outside the box, was pretty good compared to the older one who did not seem to know the offside rule and raised his flag it seemed on every attack down his way, many of which were well onside.

It was an awful game to watch, the surface seemed like an ice rink and the wind/rain and play was not helping. ECB scored from a well taken long shot early on down wind, and Springs had at least 4 well saved by the keeper and two hit the bar which any one of could have been goals on  another day.

In all honesty there was no way the young lino in question (who i hear was only 16) could have seen that incident, with all the noise etc going on. Lino on far side was useless and ref wasn't much better either. 

For a coach of James size to grab and shout in the face of a kid in such a angry way would have been very very scary, I heard someone say he pushed him lightly too. Poor kid shame he had to suffer the backlash from what was a very poor decision from his two other colleagues, have seen him run the line the few times and does a good job. 

Football is an emotional sport and due to that I dont think this incident can be labelled as 'assulat'. Shame James went onto pitch after and approached the guy that stomped on his fellas head he'll get in more shark for that. 

If he's touched the ref in anyway thats enough to be labeled "assault" and will be 4 week minimum ban - if he's entered the field like you say, he'll be in even more trouble

for me in the current environment of zero tolerance a four week ban would be a cop out - needs to be a statement if the above is true.

Like JF says - touching the referee in an aggressive manner is violent conduct.

Nope, can't be away, sick, suspended or in any way unavailable.

NRFL Premier Mens to be decided this Saturday.

North Shore, who are one point ahead of Onehunga, face Hamilton at Allen Hill.

Otherwise, Onehunga are away to Eastern Suburbs at Madills.

Interesting season for North Harbour Clubs.

North Shore won Premier (Birko 3rd)' Forest Hill won 1st Division. Albany won 2nd division.

Proposed merger between NSU and FHM fell over so not sure what the feelings of both clubs are about that now ?Think the proposal was more to do with facilities than playing strength ?

Not all sweetness and light in Harbour as Glenfield and ECB both relegated from Premier Grade. (and Hibiscus Coast from Div1)

Still wonder if there are too many clubs on this side of the bridge.

Shame the area still can't get it's act together re National League representation (in theory the basket case that is Waitakere united represents that catchment area)

Would be nice to see a Shore team in the Handy. So long as they do NOT play at QBE.
