With high-quality teams and players playing in the Northern League, I'm surprised there isn't any threads I can find on it. Would anyone be interested in starting a thread? Or are there no Aucklanders on this site? Just want to know. Cheers

There is plenty of Aucklanders on here and I am surprised there hasn't been a thread started.

Really cant see any one beating Bay Olympic. As for my lot we aren't doing that flash

Did you come up for the Chat Cup the other week?

Three for me, and two for them.

No, didn't get to come up for Chathams, probably best I didn't. And, sounds like a good game v ECB, a real game of two halves?

I seem to have missed the game of the season - Melville 4 Bay Olympic 3, Heerschap 93rd minute winner

Good on you melville, knocking them over

Excellent result for Melville, they've had some good victory's at home this year.

Anyone following the lower leagues - Divvy 1 and 2?

Follow Div 1 and 2. Two great results for my two teams today. Interesting relegation battle in Div 1 shaping up as well as an interesting promotion race in Div 2.

Three for me, and two for them.

MAP look to have top spot sewn up in Div2, is it 2 that go up and 2 down from Div 1 Buffon?

2 definately go up from Div 2, I'm cheering for Ngaurawahia to do it but doesn't look likely

After the weekend's results in Div 2 it would take something very drastic for MAP to miss promotion, 5-0 away over Ngara, great result. Good win too for Tauranga to keep them in the race after Fencies lost at home to Shore, who also are in with a chance. Mangere also still possible and outisde chances for Shore and Hibs. I tihink Fencies are the better side when compared to Tauranga so I'm picking them to claim 2nd.

Relegation from Div 1 looks like Onehunga Mangere at this stage and possibly Matamata altho North Force and Lynn-Avon are only just above the zone.

sh*te result for my team on Saturday, 3-1 loss. Ten men for the last 30, shafted on the red big time. 3 pens against resulting in 2 goals. Only decent goal in the game was our lad chhipping their keeper from 35 yards.

It has been an awful few years for Lynn Avon, that's for sure. Go Cambridge in Div 2 - no points at all, has any team ever gone the season without a point?
Permalink Permalink

No idea but it looks likes Cambridge will do just that. Only seen them the once this season when we played down there but they were awful that day and results would suggest that wasn't a once off!

Good to see this thread here - I tired of the wretched hive of scum, villainy, injokes and players trolling each other that is the Northern League forum.

I of course play for the MAP ladies 1st team, and I am frustrated that our men's 1st team seem to have the same problem we do - we play our worst football at home. I don't know whether this means Anderson Park is cursed.

Meanwhile, Manukau City are clearing up in the AFF Championship. Who will they face for promotion from NFF and WaiBop?Doloras2011-07-25 14:04:14

I'm pretty sure Old Blues are leading WaiBOP division, not sure how they'd go up against the other teams though

Doloras I hear you - that forum is a joke. Looking forward to playing at your ground in a few weeks time, I haven't played there before. Hoping we put up a better display than the 3-1 loss earlier this season.

Waitemata I believe is top of the NFF. They're a good side and wouldn't be out of place in Northern 2nds IMO. I don't know how they compare to Manukau and Old Blues though.

How does it work with the 3 federations competing for the 1 spot to challenge bottom of Northern 2? Last year Warkworth beat Caludelands I think it was in a one-off game then beat Pukekohe home and away to win promotion. Had Claudelands beaten the top AFF team first maybe?

Last year the top AFF team were Otahuhu who decided not to go for promotion. (Small club with very few resources, last time in the NRFL they were getting tonked 15-0 and similar.)

Ok that makes sense. So, presumably all 3 teams this year will want to go for promotion, whats the format for reducing them down to 1 team?

Some convoluted playoff system.

Three for me, and two for them.

Permalink Permalink

Don't know it will work with the 3 teams. Probably after some coin tossing,  two of the teams will play each other with the winner playing the other one. Then the winner of that game going on to play Cambridge over two legs.

Would be easier just to include Cambridge as well and have two "semis" and a two legged final with the winner going into Div.2.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Far too simple for AFF to ever consider Jag.

Not a fan of anything involving a coin toss.

Stumbled across this footage on youtube - http://www.youtube.com/user/WombatoSports#p/u/43/W14y4ItAjxE

0.40 in, one of the worst challenges you're likely to see. I saw it in the flesh but didn't realise there was any video of it, just as bad as I remember. Broken leg was the result and red card.

Knew it would be Eason before i even clicked the link. The man is a thug and should be barred from playing football again. He's done it time and again in his career. An absolute disgrace of a player.

Three for me, and two for them.

Agree 100%. Thrown out of the club by Forrest Hill after this incident, that ECB would even want to sign him (both on ability and temperament) shows just how far they've fallen this season.

The fact he gobbed off at Central bench and supporters after being sent off shows what a disgrace he is.

Bay Olympic won the league yesterday. Fantastic achievement to lock it up in July.

MAP 3 points away from clinching promotion after 1-1 draw with Tauranga. MAP equalised with 30 seconds to go, Tauranga lads were apparently gutted.

Maybe Willy Gersden should take a look at that footage of Lance Eason then he can decide if he still thinks the tackle wasnt that bad.

Sorry JB, a bit out of touch with the NPL swuads this season.

Is Eason the tackler or the recipient (playing for you or Bays?)

He's another one that that was the next great striker hope for NZ in his late teens but has ended up bouncing around the MPL.

How's my driving? - Whine here

The match is somebody (I assume Forrest Hill) v Central, and Central are in the yellow, so I assume Eason is the tackler? Doloras2011-07-31 21:15:46

Forest Hill Milford v Central. Lason Eason cracks John Chilsolms leg. Eason gives the Central bench a serve on the way off.

FHM release him, he transfers to ECB where 'he is a good footballer and not like that'. The reality is, he has a rep of being 'that kind of player' and now with video evidence and a club taking responsibility for its own players thuggishness, if he wasn't tarred as a dirty player previously, he is now.

The daft thing is off the pitch, he is actually not a bad guy, just a complete f**king mental head case on it and has this thing for smashing players. This does a lot to disprove that he is actually a decent person because the thing that disturbs me about the clip is that he gets up about to point at the ball saying he got it, then realises he is getting sent off and drops like he is injured, then gives their bench a serve. Sometimes it better to show a little humility and had he got up and said 'yeah fair cop, are you ok John' I doubt people would be so up in arms about it.

Grumpy old bastard alert

There were Forrest Hill players on the pitch saying that it was "f#cken embarrassing" and the like. Pretending to be injured then gobbing off at the bench, not exactly what you would call remorse.

Anywyay, congratulations to Bay Olympic on wrapping up the comp already. Still a chance of a Cup and League double as well.

He has been coming off the bench for us. Didn't know he was a nutcase. And I don't think he has done anything rash this season. So maybe he has learn't.

I see what he did was stupid but everyone changes

Have to say lads, don't want to contradict anyone but the tackle didn't look that bad on video. Obviously it must have been for the reaction from everyone. Like the fella said if he had got up and said fair enough and apologised then maybe he would had come out of it with an inkling of respect. Fair play to his club for making a stance instead of the 'I didn't see anything Arsene Wenger syndrome'. The Lad's probably built a rod for his own back now, if I was going for a 50-50 with him I'd be thinking this feckers gonna get me so I better go higher. Remember Souness saying something similer along the lines that because of his reputation he felt that people would go over the ball with him so to combat that he would go a lttle bit higher. Ultimately it led to some ridiculous tackles, especially in his Rangers days. Hows the lad that got hurt? Hopefully he makes a full recovery and comes back stronger.
