[QUOTE=Barber21]you truly are a muppet arent you, i havent played for wests since 2004.

yes porirua is split into 5 zones from a geographic point of view and if you want to go from that viewpoint then yes the wilsons and churches and ramaekers are from porirua, but get in the real world my friend - the world where "Porirua" is split into 6 zones.

The East (Mungavin Ave to where Bedford St starts)
The Creek (Warspite Ave until Corrina St)
Waitangirua (Corrina St to Tairangi School Roundabout)
Ascot Park (Tairangi School Roundabout to past Aotea College)
Elsdon
Titahi Bay (Quote

Don't let the new residence of Aotea know you have included them in Ascot Park, they will put a contract out on your life.

Porirua City have the right idea to slowly rebuild there club and getting the colleges invlolved and i think its good for wellington football and the club that they enter more teams in the capital grades and maybe even one day get a team back up into Premier Grade... I spoke to a Porirua Club memeber  about a 5 months ago and he pointed out one good thing.. Whats going to happen when wilson leaves Wests? This is only my opinion but He owns the whole club... They will be Fu**ed when he leaves which will happen one day soon... The club will have no team in Central league and a couple of social sides left if there lucky Which will be sad as Wests has some great club History in wellington and New Zealand... Porirua FC would probally rather go Run Through East Porirua with swastikas painted on there chests than join with Western suburbs and they have good reason to...

Thanks to everybody who has contributed to the debate. We at Porirua City FC really appreciate it. Yes we are trying to have a steady plan to build the club up. Originally it re started as the Masters teams were unhappy with policy at Wests which favours the first team (elitist if you like). They are a tight knit group and great fun to play with and watch (and very skillful!).

The College's in Porirua are not football focussed - I know because I am Deputy Principal at Mana College. Our College is famous for rugby, basketball and volleyball. We want PCFC to be a place where kids from the Creek, the Pa, the Bay etc can go and play active sport with good mates - keeping them out of trouble and keeping them fit. Yes it would be nice if we could have a few teams higher up the league but it is not the point.

We are working with the City Council to see if we can upgrade facilities at Waihora.

I would love it if people with football connections in Porirua would come to me at Mana and get involved. And guys - dont fall out over this!!

You are right Orpewise, the colleges aren't football focused, they havent been in the last 10 years. Having been a student out at Viard until 1999 I know that first hand. With more and more immigrants coming into the Porirua community maybe that is a chance for some of the Porirua Colleges to up their numbers and in turn increase PCFC as a whole.

Reefside, people having been asking the "Wilson" question for years. Matt (youngest son of Wilson) is overseas in the UK and Mike (oldest son of Wilson) is floating between Team Wellington and the USA.......I think you'll find his involvement in a hand-on capacity is fairly minimal but yes it does pose a fine question, only time will tell I feel. One thing I do know is that DW is passionate about his football and in particular, Wests - and not just becoz his sons play for the club.

Didn't mean to "upset" anyone but I am very strong in my views about people who claim to "know" Porirua when clearly they see it with one eye open.

Mana? Famous for Rugby? Don't you mean famous for Rodney So'oialo?!!! Sorry Orps i couldn't resist! I'm sure Mana has the Beard Trophy these days?

mana famous for rugby?? they made the premier final once in the last 5 years and all of a sudden their famous?? beats me.
Aotea has alright team a... understand mana college aint football never have been... viard always produces a player or 2.
but also you have players from the likes of whitby plimmerton "the other porirua" who played for wests as kids and went to school in town who now float around and most likly travel to a club into town or tawa.

Tim O'Sullivan was a good local lad. No from the gangland part of 'rua admittedly. Got golden boot once or twice. Best ginger in the league a decade ago. Feverish2008-01-17 08:38:57

Didnt Coveny come from a Porirua Club before joining Waterside?

Going back a wee bit further, another player who came from Porirua City was Brian Fields who went to Waterside before playing National League  for Miramar. (1980'S)  He was also a Deputy Principal.

Hospital started very close to the turn of the century as a staff team from Porirua Mental Hospital.  The surrounding population and interest in soccer meant others were catered for, including juniors, and Hospital changed to Western Suburbs in 1955 to reflect this.  The Chatham had been won under each name.  The name was changed to Porirua United in the early seventies I think.  Forget dates I'm too geriatric.  Viard OB joined to make it PVU and then back to Wests and recently the Cup again.  Dave Wallace, bred thru the club, was the first NZ born NZ captain.

Brian Field coached me at Wests for approx 11 years(66 to 77). We trained at the infamous Cannons Creek park.
Each one of those seasons his wife was pregnant , I wonder if the Brian Feild you are refferring to was one of those pregnancies.

A dog with a bone :)
