Pre-season subs comment.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Talking to a friend who said that his club are still owed about $2000 in subs from last season.

Two things come to mind.
First, toughen up the rules about paying and playing. It's not rocket science.
Second, if you think you can play for free then **** *** you parasite the game doesn't want you.

I guess that makes most first teams in Wellington parasites then ;-)

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

how much per player to play a season in wellington ?

in wanganui one club has set it's fees for next season at $240.00 per player even if you are only playing in a social league seems a bit steep to go and have a fun game on a saturday. all games at the same field every week so no travelling involved

Interesting approach to subs at my club here in the UK.  Everyone pays an upfront cost, say roughly 50% of the total for the year.  You then pay your captain on a game by game basis.  I think over a long season it woud work out more fairly, especially if you get injured etc.  Subs pay less on game day as well.  Harder for the club to predict what it will receive but should be more even over the season.

I've always thought it's a bit of a jip that players who for whatever reason turn up later in the season, often in lower teams, and could end up playing quite a few matches as numbers dwindle or personnel changes, effectively play for free, often because team managers just want to get a team on the park.  Managers here are also required to submit team sheets to the committee to ensure they aren't picking players who haven't paid subs.  Maybe a little extreme but it does at least highlight the issue and make the managers accountable as well.

one problem here is that clubs have to pay fees in full to Capital Football by a certain date, rather than half now half later. JD's approach would mean that Clubs have to dip into their equity for a few months.

Thats a fair point rightstr, maybe could be gotten aroound but fair enough.

Does anyone know of any clubs who do charge ring ins or people who come in half way to play?  In my mind it's a way to make team captains aware that it does cost money to play and attempt to make those who play, pay.

I know of some teams who just charge a pay $10 system for casuals and people who can't commit to a full season due to work commitments or whatever... suspect it works better in masters where there are no team cards though.

my full season guys are expected to front up with their subs prior to the season starting, Waterside gives the teams a slight discount if we pay in full early, from memory it was $3k per team last year if paid in full before the season kicked off $3200 if paid afterward. I charged my ringins and partime players a tenner which went towards the team kitty.

Queenslander 3x a year.
