Island Ole is stacked with talent $ - how did they fail?

Same story for a few years I believe.

Maybe because not all the Ole talent were in team, some already in the states.

Also, I have been told tha Ole talent dont have to play for Island bay nex season.

Island Bay were always strong on paper before Ole came along. Heard the same re Ole and club football.

Lower Hutt do it again and Birkenhead/LH continue their domination over the past few years. It's obvious these teams are so good because of the clubs' youth focus and how stacked their first teams are with U19s. Have to take your hat off to them.

Actually our team this year only had 2 full time first teamers (1 was a guest) the rest were reserves/under 17 players.

Three for me, and two for them.

All the more impressive then but is the first team coach the U19s coach too? Pretty sure not many clubs do that. I know LH do and thought Birkenhead did as well.

Yep it is the same coach but the team this year was very different from that in 10 and 11. Far younger and with less experience at that top level like years before. Lads did very well to make the final this year as they weren't anywhere near favs like previous years.

Three for me, and two for them.

Wasn't a great final very windy.. Birkenhead had the better chances and missed a sitter on the whistle...

Lower Hutt were physically stronger and prob a bit older....

Hats off to both clubs for there investment in youth .. Both first teams are stacked with young quality players ..

Some of the lower Hutt boys have gone on to the Phoenix and birkenheads Tuiloma To the L.A Galaxy..

Congrats to both teams especially lower Hutt for winning two years on the Trot

Only two articles on the Football Central National U19's could be found.   The media should get it by now that there is more to NZ than rugby!

A great weekend of football, with some great talent shown on the park. Congrats to Lower Hutt City AFC and Birkenhead Utd for making the finals for the second year in a row and to Lower Hutt City AFC for taking the final out.

Did the team that won Satellite have the bulk of the NZSS winning MAGS side? How come a team full of the top school boys didn't feature in the main draw here?

Not all the best under 19 players play school football.

Three for me, and two for them.

They didn't enter a team a few years ago so they drop to satelite..just like central have to..

Thought the standard was better this year, the satelite was better with subs,Hamilton,Oratia all good..

In main draw Hut, birkenhead, tech, 3 kings all teams we're not too far away from each other..

Looking back this was the third year in a row these teams have met in the final. First year won by Birkenhead.

Last year and this year Won by Lower Hutt. Must be doing something right!

Yep great effort from both teams, would say that 80% of both clubs 1st teams are players that have played in the last 3 finals
