Porirua 4 Wallaceville 0

Porirua were more dominant the score suggests but couldn't finish off. Scoring their first goal within 2 mins after a cracking shot by Graham.  The second coming from ET after 23 mins. The score remained at 2-0 until halftime.
Porirua scored again inside 2 mins this time with by Nathan who followed up with his second after 22 mins with the probably the goal of the game.

Match Report
The Sunday League finally got underway at sunny Upper Hutt, with the newly formed Porirua Club thirds giving the home side a good run for their money. Damo and Matt got Porirua going well from the start and took the lead after 5 minutes. It was an easy tap in for Daniel, after two Trentham defenders and goalie Fitzy all decided each other had the ball, when in fact neither of them did, allowing it to run thru to Daniel to finish. Glover finished well to draw the teams level, before Adam chased a through ball, raced 50 yards untouched before slotting home. 2.1 halftime. Trentham Utd started off the second half slowly and Porirua were unlucky on two occasions. Chopper Henderson finished another long ball move to give Trentham some breathing space and then unbelievably two own goals put Trentham out to 5.1 ahead. Porirua were not done though, and after great work from Yogi on Poriruas right flank, Gavin popped up at the far post to slot home. Five minutes later and Gavin again finished sharply and with 10 minutes to play Porirua had a sniff again. For all their endeavour it was not to be, Trentham deserved to win, albeit they made hard work of it, but Porirua should be commended for their battling with an inexperienced team to the bitter end.

Honourable mentions should go to Chopper's cut back from the byline that ended up on halfway, and his shot after beating the defence that went 40 feet up and nowhere near the goal.

Also to the CEO of a certain professional football club who are popular in these parts who put in a 70 odd minute stint and looked better than I did after 7 minutes.

Blazers 2 Cambodia 3

Game played on a muddy Raroa park which didn't help either teams style of football.

Cambodia opened the scoring in the 5th Min with a goal to Andy. Francis then evened the score in the 20th minute however Cambodia put another two goals in before halftime, both coming from Grant on the 28th and 28th minute.
The second half saw have many more chances for the Blazers including a missed penalty but only scored the one goal in the 33rd minute by James.

Both teams a pleasure to ref.

A goals ``Wildfire`` raced through Naenae College today with Porirua Club
igniting from the very first minute to put the new boys in the league into
an inferno they couldn't extinguish.
Unbelievably though, NZFS nearly opened the scoring! But it would be another
60 minutes before they ever looked like scoring again.
In the meantime South African Graham notched 6 goals, 5 in the first half,
and the hugely improved and fitter Nathan bagged an impressive hat trick. Two
of his strikes were first class whereas most of Grahams were just running to
within 5 yards of the keeper before shooting.
A crazy goal from Richard, off his chest, after he missed a hatful of
chances, and a bullet header from Bazza, after good work down the flank from
Eddie, completed the rout.
Special mention must be made to Andrew, the NZFS custodian, who made a
string of fantastic saves all game and never threw the towel in.
For all of that NZFS never gave up, played with great spirit and will enjoy
closer matches vs Wallaceville Utd and Porirua Cryovac, while Porirua will
find tougher tasks ahead against the likes of Marauders and Tuscan Raiders.
The game was played in good spirit, considering there were no sidelines,
which made the task of refereeing easier. Thanks to all the players for
their sporting effort.

Our game was played at Kura St in near perfect conditions. The first half was well contested and ended at nil-nil. Both sides came out after the break with the intention of winning the game. After some good build up play, they(Porirua 3) scored a beautiful goal, not sure who it was, but was well struck and well deserved. That actually spurred the Porirua Club side into action and the resulting 3 goals were hard fought as both teams contested for every ball. Our first goal came from a set piece that had been formulated the night before over a few drinks by some senior players and the coach??? It worked well and ended in a clean strike by Chopper from just inside the big box, there was a goal disallowed (Porirua Club)as it went through a hole in the net, so the ref(Pedro) could not allow as he wasnt sure that it did in fact go through the hole???, the other two goals were scored by their South African import Graham. He now has 9 goals in 3 games, a sure contender for the golden boot. Their goal keeper certainly kept them in the game, saving a penalty and pulling off some good saves with an unusual style of keeping goal. The game was played in really good spirit with a good crowd of vocal supporters. Hopefully all the games will be played as such. Good luck to all the teams for their games this coming week-end.

Porirua 2 Shamrocks 7

Porirua opened the scoring in the 12th min through a goal to Hayden however Shamrocks quickly struck back in the 15th Min with a goal by Jonsey, followed by 2 goals by Craig in the 27th and 42nd Minute.

Porirua came out the stronger in the 2nd half but could not finish off, Shamrocks went on to score 4 more goals to Dave (19th Min)  Taiga 24th and 36th Minute followed up with a goal to Bart after 38th minute. Shamrocks had a couple more one on ones with the keeper but couldn't finish off. Daniel scored the second goal for Porirua coming from a penalty in the 42nd minute.

All in all 2 great teams to ref, Porirua let down by Hayden insisting on arguing with the ref and was given a yellow late in the 2nd half, And also Craig? receiving a yellow for being a bit to aggressive with his mouth then in a tackle moments later receiving a yellow and then a straight red for inappropriate threatening behavior.

Once again the weather and the field allowed for a great game of football between two sides who both had a point to prove. Cambodia started the proceedings by attacking with good pace and had Porirua Club on the back foot for the first 20mins. Once they got the feel of the way the Cambodians and their one import, not sure what nationality he was but definitety not Cambodian?, were playing P.C settled down and started putting on the pressure on their back four. Both sides had their chances to score, with Bazza putting a header just over the bar from a cross from Graham. The second half was as intense as the 1st half, this time with P.C taking control for most of the half. Graham Essel must have watched the Champions league final this morning as he calved up their defence, skinning three players just outside the big box only to put the ball just past the post. The only thing he could'nt do was score, their keeper made sure of that as he saved every shot Graham took at him.
After a very physical contest played in a relatively sporting manner, P.C gave away a penalty after the P.C keeper, Glen took out their striker just as he was going to shoot.( which they missed) With about 15mins to go Glen played a long ball from the edge of his box and with the sun in eyes the Cambodian defence misjudged the bounce of the ball which Chopper, (who was not looking into the sun at the time) collected the ball calmly just in front of their keeper and slotted it past him.
Both sides tried hard to help the ref, who Im sure just came to watch the game, by being fair when it came to throw-ins which the ref got wrong, really sporting from both sides.
Once again thanks to the ref and to the supporters who came to watch, and good luck to all the teams for the next round of games.

Played at Heretaunga, 5 June 2011

Clean game, considering the conditions.  In the 65th minute Wallaceville was awarded a penalty for a tackle from behind but failed to convert.  A few niggles throughout the game but was kept under control.

Goal scorers for Porirua Daniel (5) in the 43rd, Eddie (7) in the 55th, Bjorn (4) own goal in the 73rd.

Topic: Porirua Club vs Sunday blazers
Posted: Today at 6:55pm <!-- Start Member Post -->
Porirua Club 9- Sunday Blazers 1

Well, after having a few weeks off thanks to the weather, it seems that it not effect the Porirua Club as they went on goal scoring spree against a very competitive Sunday Blazers.
Porirua scored first after 5min.Graham Essel latched onto a loose ball in the small box and smashed it into the net.
SB then equalised with a free kick just inside the PC half. Im sure the PC goalkeeper(Baz) will tell you that the sun was in his eyes as the ball went through his hands.
After the kick off, with some good build up work Graham received the ball out wide on the right and beat their defence, with three of his team mates screaming for the ball, he calmly slotted the ball in on the near post giving their keeper no chance.
Not sure of the goal scoring order from there on as it was all PC from then on.
Graham got another goal, Nathan got one, Laurie Fay got two goals and Richard got a hat-trick.
Richard got man of the match as he has finally scored and scored a hat-trick after numerous attempts on goal throughout the season without success.
The game was played in a very competitive spirit and credit to SB for not giving up even as PC kept scoring.SB played very well, but it was just not their day.
The one negative in the game today was that 2 players were red carded. One from each team.
I didnt see what happened and really it doesnt matter, all that matters is that the Ref( Pedro) saw fit to send them both off. To PC that is a blemish on a team that prides itself on its fair play and disipline. Enough said on that.
Hopefully, weather permitting, we will be able to play next week-end, so good luck to all the teams.Cheers.
