A-League Tipping Comp - Proposed Change

When I started doing the tipping comp, it was kinda a rush job, so didnt have alot of things thought out, next time I should have a better idea, and more defined set of rules, rather than trying to sort things as they come up.

But in the meantime, I have been giving new players starting points, as if they had been picking the Phoenix to win each week, but giving no points to people who missed putting their picks in. The more I think about it, thats a little unfair on those that started but gave up, if they wanted to start picking again they are well behind.

So, I was wondering if people would mind if i backdated the points for those who didnt put in picks, giving them the default tip of a Phoenix win? I dont add these 'default tips' into the calc for working out the correct tip percentages, so it wouldnt change that.

This is how things would stack up if I gave people the deafult tip of a Phoenix win:

Anyways, im interested in hearing peoples thoughts, I dont want to feel like im changing the goal post midway thru the game, so wont do this unless pretty much everyone agrees.

I don't know to be honest. I think its fairest that if you started late you started with zip. So you could always deduct those people's points. Seems fairer to me

that actually increases my lead at the top, so I say go for it.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Not sure really.

If people have been placing bets but not getting anything. You could have them upgraded to get the lowest achieved points of that round. And if people missed out the round, they can also achieve that lowest achieved points of that round. So by a number of rounds, the accumulation of the lowest achieved points are there for any newcomers to start with. I think that is fairest way. So a person who has won the lowest achieved point of that round would have to share the same round points with those who has placed a bet but not won as well as those who didn't placed a bet but started later. People would have to conceded that if they are at the bottom achieving the lowest points, they have set the minimal points for the rest could have automatically from that round.

If we do what you are suggesting, can you imagine if someone only gets one non-phoenix games corrected but someone else has missed placing a bet gets better default points from the phoenix game. Then the person missing a bet has a better score than someone who bothered to place a bet but won poorly.AllWhitebelievr2009-11-27 00:32:11
