Eventual A-League Men's Premiers results in Week 1:

P20 W13 D5 L2

Only 2 eventual Premiers who lost Week 1? CCM both times.

So we can write off Sydney/Macarthur & the Jets title chances ...

Burgess and Aqualina having a field day down Victorys left side, Badolato looks very tidy on the ball, and what a boot on the lad. Gibson looking good up top as well, wouldnt mind him getting an AWs chance if he keeps it up.

They’ve kept up their attacking pace shown in the Aussie Cup. They could’ve had a bunch besides the 5 they got. You wonder if they’ll burn out at some point mid to late season. But they seem to have a bunch of young fit talent with Burgess the old head.
Hope this Bardolato follows through and becomes a top player. Having Jarred Gillet as the most successful Aussie football export still going kinda sucks.

Jesse Randall with a nice finish, 1-0.

He really has looked good so far this season. Could be a bolter for the WC squad?

Good to see the WSW CB putting him on the ground after he was being a pest to the WSW goalkeeper

Guy is a joke.

Once he works out just where he needs to be for De Vries' crosses, I think he will start causing havoc in the box.

May hits the post, rebound just wide of Randall. That would have seal it for AFC. 1-0

Sighter from Rogerson. Hope he gets going again this season too.

Nice combination up the line to put him through and he did well to get into a shooting position. Powerful but straight at the keeper.

AFC hold on for a 1-0 win. Not a very impressive performance but 3 valuable points for AFC. WSW really quite dire given the players they have. 1-0

That was pretty boring. The pitch looked so slow. Wsw chasing the game not really trying to put afc under much pressure without the ball.

I felt Brook's roaming sideways really hurt AFC's attack. Rogerson was more direct in his short cameo, which I think suits them better.

The attack seems to have gone backwards for sure. Hard to believe that there’s not a kiwi player they could have picked ahead of Cosgrove. But Sydney II is more true now I guess…
Certainly the successful mix from last season is different and this new one isn’t firing.
Hasn’t really hurt them on the table yet though, sadly.

Jesus, Beach doing insane things again. He looked so dodgy to start last season but was a fantastic Keeper by the end of the season. It is like he has regressed back to the calamity version of himself. 1-0

Cosgrove got a goal every thousand minutes or so in League One. Dirty player, clumsy, plodding, big and strong but ineffective in the air.
I've seen enough. Don't think he's A league standard for now. So Randall and May up front, with Brook and Rogerson out wide.
May had some very nice touches but worryingly quiet for most of the game. Not many options up front for AFC, especially given May seems to play more as a 10.
