Sydney go 3-3 on aggregate out after Shandong Luneng score a stunning 90th min equaliser.

Was a bloody good goal, Sydney must feel hard done by to lose it at the end. Bit of controversy over the red card as the player was offside so that should have been flagged.

Always funny to see the Aussie teams knocked out, means less arrogance from Aussie fans. What a way to get knocked out for Sydney! Cracker of a goal.

So for the East Zone it's now just two Chinese and two Korean teams. Strange result in the Urawa Red Diamonds vs FC Seoul fixture where after the result being 1–0 in both encounters to the home teams, in extra time the away goals rule didn't apply. In UEFA competitions if it was 3–3 aggregate like it was here Urawa would've gone through considering they scored away goals and Seoul didn't. Instead for Urawa, it went to penalties and they got knocked out.

Massive break now until late August. When is the draw held for the quarter-finals?

I like the fact away goals don't count in extra time. The UEFA version unfairly gives one team an extra 30 minutes to get the away goal.

Draw is 6th June, in Kuala Lumpur

Yeah, I agree. I reckon away goals is a stupid and unfair rule anyway. I enjoy how they don't do it in, for example, the Championship playoffs, gives an extra edge to it. Also, extra time is so much more exciting than away goals.

Brisbane have to qualify via the play offs, they face the winner of Tampines Rovers/Global FC and will then need to beat Shanghai Shenua to qualify for the group stages.

Roar host Global FC (Philippines) tonight in a qualification match. If they win this game, they will travel to China to face Carlos Tevez's Shanghai Shenhua on the 8th of February for a spot in the Group Stages.

Wow.

Ended 6-0. They now travel to China to face Tevez before returning quick smart to play City a couple days later. Aloisi previously threatened to play the kids that game because of the travel involved.

He started off as a bit of a joke but he has developed into a rather good keeper.

Roar win, who saw that coming? Guess you could put it down to the Roar being match fit & the Chinese side being in pre-season but by the sounds of it, the Roar utterly deserved their win so that shouldnt take anything away from it.

Good result for us as our next two games against them will be after they have an ACL game.

Adelaide always play well in the ACL, not surprised by their better effort tonight. Gamba could counter at any moment and double the lead though..

Bit of luck about both Gamba goals with rebounds falling right to their feet each time. A shame for the Reds because considering how under strength they are they had been putting up a good fight.
