Simic playing. Temperature in the mid 30s. Might be a tough night for the Jets.

Quite amusing watch O'Donovan butcher chance after chance. 10 to go, still 1-1, potentially exhausting extra time looming.

Matty Ridenton with the headed goal to give the Jets a 3-1 win in extra time. Surprisingly entertaining game.

ABC have just shown a doco here in Oz, about Indonesian football. Lots of fan violence and corruption. Worth a look. ABC have iView service, so hopefully link works in NZ.

Features Persija Jakarta fan group Jakmania, and culminates in Persija winning their first title in 17 years. I didn't know Jakarta has 30M people! The city goes a bit nuts.

Stadium scenes similar to what you get in South America. Some teams, their fans are banned from travelling. Often the away team is taken to the ground in Armed Personal Carriers!! Could have been interesting for the Newcastle boys, if they had had to play away.

Even when Jakmania visit Bali to play Bali United, which supposedly has the most chilled fans in Indonesia (perhaps related to Bali being mostly Hindu), their is crowd trouble. Bali United are losing and a rumour goes around the ground, that they are throwing the game!! Match has to be stopped for a time, as the home fans vent their anger.

Thanks, looks interesting, will check it out.

I only watched the last 40 minutes or so, but thought Riddenton had a great game, playing in more of AM role. Scoring a great goal at the end. Now he has 2 goals in the last 3 games, maybe getting that scoring monkey off his back he will really kick on as a lot more confident footballer.

Thats the next step for Rufer. He has been strong but if he can start getting the odd goal then perhaps he can lift his game to the next level.

Kashima vs Jets at 11pm tonight.

Jets lose 4-1. Sounds like the only thing that kept the score close was Moss in goal.

Victory vs Daegu at 9:30pm tonight.

Victory lose 1-3. Sounds like they forgot the key to success in Asia is a tight defense, they dominated but couldn't score and got hit on the counter by Daegu.

Sanfrecce open the scoring in the 3rd minute, 1-0

This ref doesn't mind the rough stuff does he. A league refs would be blowing many of these challenges up and probably giving cards. One of the SF players got absolutely crunched on the instep by a studs up tackle and the ref just impatiently gestured for him to get up.

Honda equalises!! 1-1

Roux storms down the right wing, crosses in for Honda to makes no mistake

Great work from Roux. He is such a dynamic attacking fullback. A pity his defending isn't so hot.

Sanfrecce score in the 86th minute, 2-1. Victory have been on top most of the game but just couldn't break down the Sanfrecce defence.

That about does their ACL campaign. MV really are paying the price for some poor defending recently.

Victory have never won an away ACL match, 20 games and counting.

No truer assessment of how fast the Asian clubs developed and progressed over the last 10-12 years.

Kawasaki vs Sydney at 11pm tonight.

Kawasaki open the scoring in the 83rd minute, looks like its gonna be another poor result for the Aussie teams

Permalink Permalink

Kawasaki win 1-0, dunno if Fitzgerald made the match day squad.

No Fitzgerald for Kawasaki, so yes at moment looks like just a wider squad member for overseas ACL games

Ended 3-3, Sydney took the lead 3 times and Shanghai came back 3 times.

Victory 2-0 down after 20 mins

Victory game ends 4-0. Doesn't look like either team will make it out of their groups, so the A-League co-efficient in Asia is gonna take a hit. They were in real danger of losing a spot iirc.
