Coolen withdrew his compensation claim.

Adelaide United FC is pleased to confirm that it has reached a financial settlement of the claim brought against it by Rini Coolen.

The Club has agreed to pay Mr Coolen the sum of $400,000 plus costs.

The amount the Club has agreed to pay is significantly less than the claim formulated by Mr Coolen of $2.2 million plus costs.

The Club wishes to place on the record its thanks to the legal team that worked so tirelessly to achieve this result and in particular Mrs Shaw QC.

The Club will now focus on what has been to date an entertaining Hyundai A-League season.

Was pretty good for the Knights

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

No he wasn't.

He was a good Knights player, but that is like saying I'm a good player because in a side of 70 year olds who'd never seen a ball before I might be less shit than some of them.

He was good for Gold Coast. We will soon see.

He does have talent and if anyone is going to bring it out it will be Frank. Ask our boys last week end.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

An indication of the desperation hereabouts that Caravella's name keeps popping up in different threads today. If he did have talent it's well and truly deserted him for the last two years, so Uncle Frank will have his work cut out.

Mind you, if I wanted to be nasty I might say that he's not a huge step down from a certain creative midfielder for the Nix.

Ray Gatt reckons Newcastle. Can't see Sydney having salary cap room, someone threw around the figure of them paying 400k for Sack Whacker for this season.

FFA would probably help them out with that, if they did want him.

Allegedly

Didn't think Sydney link was right. I'd take him til end of season to be honest. One thing the nix have had success with is picking up other A League players in Jan with a point to prove

Permalink Permalink

I wouldn't.  He's quite lightweight and if we want a lightweight attack focussed midfielder we already have Sanchez.

I actually can't believe that Caravella's name is being floated. Lets bring back Simon Yeo and Sean Devine while we are at it. Danny Nay must be still good for a trot?

*sheesh*

Caravella signed by the Jest

John Kosmina has become the third coaching casualty of the Hyundai A-League season, saying he has 'absolutely no regrets' about his decision to resign from his position at Adelaide United, effective immediately.

Kosmina, 56, has ended his second stint at his hometown club, blaming a 'lack of trust'. Until last Friday's loss to Central Coast Mariners, the Reds had occupied a top two position all season.

Wow.

Maybe he wanted to get out before people started quoting the columns that he wrote about Rini Coolen's coaching in relation to his coaching.

Michael Valkanis will take over Adelaide United coaching. Will be given a two year deal

Very surprising, almost bizarre in fact. On the one hand he's complaining about whispers in corridors, on the other he namechecks at least half a dozen directors, coaching staff, etc and says how much he trusts and admires them. But then that's Kosmina for you, an unpredictable beast.

Obviously more to this than meets the eye, but you'd have to think that no A League club would be willing to take a risk on him from now on.

It is noticeable for the two names he left off. The chairman Griffin, and the guy that will replace him Valkanis.

"But in a surprising twist, news service AAP has reported Kosmina may have left Adelaide knowing there would be another job waiting for him next season - at Brisbane Roar. It's understood the coach had sounded out Brisbane officials about the prospects of a coaching job being available at the Roar next season prior to quitting."

Saw that floating around last night. Mulvey is only on contract until the end of the season. But he has been acting like he will be in charge next season, with how he forced Portaloo out.
