Who owned the club when Vidmar did his pissant town rant? Just feels like deja vu.

Very interesting to hear they are trying to lure Serg back for a loan stint only a couple of weeks after bidding good riddance to him...

Pretty "pathetic" really - as they backed Kossie's choice of leaving him outside the match squad for most of the season and now they are having to back track.

I always wished we were somehow able to capitalize on Serg's lack of game time at Adelaide before he left, but I guess he would have been too expensive for us

Adelaide wouldn't let him leave for another A-League side. They turned down a few overseas bids because the offers were too low also. Guess they gave up trying to get some cash.

Apparently Kosmina had said that the game had past Serg ??? Wasnt he the Golden boot winner just the other year??? Dont let the door hit you on your way out Kossie :-)

Will be the first time I've seen Adelaide play in Wellington as they haven't been here in ages. Have seen them play at Hindmarsh but will be good to complete the 'home set'.

In that case, you're probably a decent chance. Although we've actually played quite well against Adelaide this season and have been pretty unlucky to lose both of them.

I wonder if their fans are as angry about that signing as we are about the signing of our young striker until the end of the season?

Had a quick look at their forums, they are very welcoming, but are appearing to wait until they see him in action before making a decision on whether it's a good move or not.

EDIT: You beat me to it every time RR...

Things going belly up at Adelaide

ADELAIDE United's coaching selection committee has quit tonight after Mike Valkanis was appointed Reds assistant coach today.

Former Socceroos Craig Foster, John Perin and Alex Tobin and Reds owner and board member Bruno Marveggio have all walked away from helping Adelaide United select a long-term future coach.

Perin said the panel was disappointed that the club appointed Valkanis before the committee was ready to announce its candidates.

Perin said the committee did not recommend Valkanis as an assistant or head coach.

"It's strange how a club can announce an assistant without announcing their head coach first," Perin said.

"They're putting the cart before the horse and we've decided that we're wasting our time."

Foster also an expert SBS football analyst posted a statement on Facebook.

"Following discussions last week relating to the proposed coach selection process which have not led to a satisfactory resolution," Foster posted.

"I have resigned from the panel.

"I wish the club and fans the very best of endeavours and a successful coming season."

The panel was endorsed by the club in February, less than a week after John Kosmina quit in January.

Wait.. wouldn't that be a bit worrying? Kind of like Rob Morrison pulling out of our coach search and saying f*$% it, Domey can pick who he wants.

ADELAIDE United are set to announce Josep Gombau as their new coach, au.fourfourtwo.com can reveal.

The 36 year old Spaniard is currently with Hong Kong side Kitchee after joining them in 2009 but it is believed he has now done a deal to join Adelaide as soon as possible.

The Catalonian was a former member of Barcelona's coaching staff where he was technical director of the youth academy and he holds a Pro Licence.

It is understood he will keep caretaker coach Michael Valkanis as his assistant when he takes charge.

Ramon Trib, your time will come.

I do wonder why they have hired a coach who is apparently going to implement a brand new playing style when they already have 21/23 players contracted for next season.

Why do you care?

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Think this is a decent signing actually. If your gonna sign a foreigner, at least he has experience playing in asia.

His record there was outstanding as well!

In Hong Kong..not exactly one of Asia's top leagues, is it?
