Adelaide United forward Jeronimo Neumann has been rushed to hospital after injuring his shoulder at training on Tuesday morning.

Neumann crashed to the ground at Coopers Stadium screaming in pain during a game of 'keep off.'

The Argentine left Coopers Stadium with his left arm in a sling.

"I don't know what happened, I heard a crack like my shoulder is dislocated, " he said. "I'm going for scans now."

More to come...

Adelaide United FC will head into the start of the Hyundai A-League 2013/14 Season with another new face after signing striker Brent McGrath on a short term contract.

The 22 year old, who has spent the past seven years at Danish club Brondby, joins the Reds for an initial four week stint as an injury replacement for Bruce Djite who is recovering from an ankle injury.

However, Adelaide United General Manager – Football Operations, Michael Petrillo confirmed there is a view to possibly extending McGrath’s contract until the end of the season if things work out. If this was to eventuate, McGrath would fill the spot on the playing roster of Teeboy Kamara, who is currently on the long term injury list.

I like that guy, he has great side profile and looks angry even when he smiles. Those media questions are always the same, mostly very stupid, try to get a certain answer. I can understand the frustration of the coaches answering the same shit week in and out.

"In professional football, I understand, results (are important) but in this league, without relegation, what happens if a team invests one year to be strong for next season?" Gombau said.

"Nobody's thinking this? Nobody's thinking that the important thing is maybe you need to make one pass back to make three passes forward?

I hope he accepted that 2-year extension offer before making that statement :-)

A few journos were saying that Gombau got rather personal with one reporter, including jabs about his family.

Adelaide United FC would like to advise that young central defender Jordan Elsey has flown to Hong Kong to join leading Super League side Kitchee FC on loan for the remainder of the season subject to a successful medical check.

The loan deal will see the 19 year old remain with Kitchee until the end of May before returning to Adelaide to re-join the Reds for the lead up to the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 Season.

Adelaide United is the latest A-League club to fall into financial difficulties with revelations emerging the club is unprofitable and behind on payments. United are not the only A-League club to find themselves in the red recently with Newcastle Jets being put up for sale and Central Coast Mariners also rumoured to be struggling to stay afloat.

LOL at this coming out in the same week as calls for a second Adelaide team. It's not surprising though basically all teams are unsustainable if they don't have someone backing them up. Adelaide also uses two marquee players (Carrusca I know is one of them). It just enables them to pay a little bit over the salary cap in total salary without going after a real star player. I suppose for Adelaide with their stadium situation it is difficult for them to really maximise revenue.

I don't think they will be buying Troisi off Juventus, anyway.

ADELAIDE United coach Josep Gombau has been closely linked with a shock move abroad before the start of the new A-League season.

The news comes as the Reds announced they would hold a major press conference at 1pm today, to make “a major announcement about the direction of the club for the upcoming season.”

It is not known if this relates to the Gombau situation.

Despite having two years remaining on his contract, it’s understood Gombau will be released to complete a move to a cashed-up club which is in the midst of its season.

It’s believed Gombau is contemplating taking up a high-ranking position on the club’s coaching staff after meeting officials during Adelaide’s off-season break.

Reports that Gombau is off to NYCFC

Permalink Permalink

From having watched Adelaide for two seasons under Gombau my impression is that he is a good coach who can get a team to play attractive football. I reckon he lacks a bit of nous required to create a champion team though. I suppose winning the FFA Cup has been something.

FFA's piece on the move alludes to family issues. Just genuinely needs to be closer to Spain, I guess.

as I say it is still a long way. I suspect if the true reason was family he might have found himself a job in Europe

Just signed Balbalj, Good signing, was hoping we would swoop in. The pool of decent Aus/NZ strikers is getting very thin now.
