Picking a Reds win, they surely can't be as bad as they were against the Wanderers. Would love to see the roar pile on the misery, but they really are a shadow of their former self.

Interested to see how this one plays out.  I actually wouldn't mind a roar victory, might ease the pressure when we play them new years day.

I picked a Reds victory, even though I despise the dirty cheating fuckers.

I can't see them going down as badly as last week

I can only bring myself to pick a draw, because I think Adelaide are overrated and their luck won't continue and Brisbane are cruddy.

This is more boxing than football.

Pretty good first half really. some good chances and some fierce fighting - hopefully Geronimo's reputatio takes (another) a battering after people see his dive. Anyway I think the ref has been quite good personally - perhaps a lil petulant - but he has kept the game under control and has made some brave (and correct) calls.

I'm the first to complain about refs, but i think we must praise those who do well

Roar win 1-0, not a great game in my eyes.

I thought the ref was very average.

Serious question:
Do you just go into a thread, pick a random post, quote it, then take the opposing view?
I'm on to you!

Allegedly

ahahah thanks for having my back Tegal :)

I thought he did well - it was his only 3rd game in charge and the game was fiery to say the list from kick off - he managed to keep everyone's head level, dished out a few cards and spotted Geronimo's dive [and booked him for it]. It was a very hard call as he wasn't in the best position to see his back leg just trailing along the ground without any contact whatsoever. If anything he talked a bit too much to players - but if that is what it takes for him to keep control of the game, then I ain't complaining.

Collina was arguably the best ref in the world and he often would stop the game to speak to a player if he felt this was necessary.

Good ref? What about the tackle on Franjic? The Adelaide defender was not only late but high and he had already been booked. What happened. Not even a free kick. The replays have also showed that Neumann (who was booked for diving) was fouled and it should have been a penalty.

Um, I think you need new glasses. It looked like a penalty watching it 'live' but replays quite clearly showed a dive.

I don't wear glasses and the local papers and the football pundits say it was a penalty  and I agree.

Maybe you need some. There was no contact on Jeronimo, he just fell to the ground when he expected his leg to be clipped by the defender. Ref got that 100% spot on.

definitely no contact

however not sure if it was a dive, or if he just caught the ground accidentally... but the way he acted after going down makes me think he tried to milk a pen - therefore simulation

Simulation is defined by FIFA as "if a player attempts to deceive the ref by ... pretending to have been fouled. There was no foul, and he definitely tried to get the ref to award a penalty, so it is simulation.

Read the FFA article on the game. How many replay angles have you seen? At the time I thought it was a dive but having seen the replay 10 times I have changed my opinion.
