Any chance one of you clever people can upload his interview think its worth a thread on the YF Forums. Just love his positivity and think what he is saying applies to NZ as much as it does Australia.
It was the first item that You Tube presented to me this morning when I was going to check out the weekend ALM highlights. And I thought "good grief - someone finally making sense in public". Football is an incredibly strong global movement, and yet you could argue that both in Australia and in New Zealand it does not need any outside enemies, it can successfully sabotage itself.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
I don't watch alot of NRL or AFL, but when I do watch a bit of NRL I do find some of the TV comments dumb arse nauseating OTT hyperbole. 'best game in the world etc etc'. And having lived in Melbs for 6 years (2005-2011), the way AFL dominates everything just grates.
However you do know when you watch someone like Reece Walsh you are witnessing an excitement machine freak. The best in the world at what he does.
You can be as positive about football in Aus/NZ, and the A Leagues as much as you like - but you do know you ain't watching the world's best in the sport. It's one of the bigger battles football faces in our part of the world, and it's a difficult one to win over.
Get all that coochiee but it just grates that some of the Football media and fans are seemingly continually bashing others in our own sport. The other sports and their media do enough of that without our own continually doing it.
Yeah fair enough. I only listened to it once yesterday.
It's the sort of interview that needs a 2nd listen, but I do remember Stajcic stating he thinks the infighting/code pulling in different directions, has got worse since FA stopped running the A League, handing over to the APL. Interesting comment.

Simon Hill was a voice standing up against Fox criticism. Perhaps it’s more the move from Fox to Paramount too! Though they’re events that happened together.
On the quality point- you said yourself in the other thread. Ex-Nix Surman, Boxall, McCowatt, Singh, Paulsen…the quality is there, you’ve got to see it now before it gooooes!
Devlin, Toure, the whole run of Adelaide strikers and CC midfielders, Girdwood-Reich, de Vries, Pijnaker, Laurence Thomas….
FOMO! See them now before they cost 20 mill! (Not many I think but some exaggeration allowed)
I guess that's some small consolation for losing his job. I always feel for sacked A League coaches. Must be a horribly stressful job and once you are out it's hard to get another gig.
