What standard are these leagues compared to any of ours?

NSWPL and VPL are generally accepted as above NZFC.

South Australia is probably similar to the pointy end of the NZFC, and then Queensland and Western Australia just behind but still around NZFC level.  This just based on players who have gone to play in these leagues and where they fitted in to the NZ scheme of things and views of people who have seen NZFC and State League matches.

From the VPL GF, after the Heart/Nix game.

Just after Dandenong Thunder's Nate Foster scored the winning goal vs Oakleigh Cannons, someone from the Thunder active support area let off a rocket flare, missing spectators on the wing by metres. It left a burn mark on a sign on the 3rd level. It was Thunder's 4th and final flare for the match.

Earlier a flare was let off by them, hitting the roof of AAMI Park, then rebounding into a female Thunder supporter, sitting nearby.

Also, a Thunder player (#5 Bryan Bran) was struck by an unknown projectile, coming from the over excited Thunder supporters.

I recall some series of puns involving said Bran.

Bran did, he got couple stories on FourFourTwo also. Maybe he will be picked up for a NYL side. I guess the Aussie media will be all over the flares, especially if someone did get burned, a few people on twitter reckon it was a kid.

That's a pretty big step for the Malaysia FA to take.. I assume they will have to put up the team and pay for travel costs etc.

My only question is, is it worth it? I mean, how much better is the Malaysian 2nd tier compared to NPL QLD?

I think they've actually been playing in the S league and they don't consider that good enough for U22 development. I'm just amazed FFA/Queensland have/will let them. Guess there is plenty of Malaysaian money behind it and Asian Cup synchronicity would help.

Makes me think Welnix could consider some left field possibilities for Phoenix Youth; if money was available.

THE Queensland NPL will be without Cairns representation next season with Cairns FC days away from folding as a club.

The Cairns Post can reveal Cairns FC will hand back their NPL licence following the 2018 season, which will finish this Saturday afternoon with the team to play their final game as a club against SWQ Thunder FC.

Just a day after Cairns FC took it to a heavyweight of Australian football in Sydney FC, there will be no Far North representation in the NPL from 2019, following attempts by different groups to make Cairns FC, and the FNQ Heat before them, feasible in the competition.

Despite losing to TW today feel that ES are a better chance of qualifying for OFC Champions League football this season, so probably carrot for de Jong to hang around til end of Handa Prem season, and try and get ES into the Handa final.

After that he maybe lining up some club trials in the European summer anyway, or just giving his body a rest from endless back to back football seasons.

Just watching a live stream now. Fantastic quality, with commentary. Should definitely be doable at the Handa level. Where the hell does the money go.
