Heart need the media hype it would give, but Adelaide was talking about marquee players recently.  If it happens, it will cost a lot of someone's money.

Cost a lot but maybe worth it. He has promised to do club promotions etc.

Your team will become a circus for 10 weeks tho. I would go for the Heart, they really need all the promotion they can get.

Personally dont think need him on the field. Already have 5 quality CM's.

Actually think the two clubs that he would work on the field would be Jets or Perth.

Jets lack a wee bit of quality in the middle of the park.

Perth would look awesome if they dropped McGarry and pushed Miller further forward in behind Smeltzy. Perth makes the most sense from an on field perspective.

Have a feeling he would have a similar contribution to Elliot for the nix. Not here long enough to work and not exactly fitting in with our playing system

Makes me wonder why we need to replace smith, move Manny back the Back - when we get statements like this.

They are playing in a heavily reduced capacity stadium with the redevelopment of NIB.

Sorry, missed the work Heart in that sentence. Heart have Fred, Thompson, Garcia, Grella, Germano and even Gerhardt who can play CM

The A-League held a press conference today to announce that they are in talks.

And it wasn't that the A-League has gone after Beckham, he was offered to the A-League. Looks promising.

Wanderers were the first club that came to mind for me.

What I've seen on this, sounds like WSW is the front runner for Becks. Can they add more foreign players? Probably a silly question

He's the creativity we need in midfield at the moment. Wellnix need to put hands in pockets for once. If they did that then numbers through the gates would definately increase also.

If he visits with another team

Can the fever banner read
"Thick as batsh*t"
Or atleast make some kind of reference to the PMs comment :P

EDIT:

Just spoke to a friend of a friend that knows a friend of David Beckham.. He's seriously considering a move to !!!
(Steve McGarry starts for Perth for those that don't know)

Almost sounds like, a friend of a friend who knows somebody's cousin who was going out with this guy who knows Beckham's aunty.

Don't really understand the point of a 10 game guest pass. As soon as the player leaves the team will be back to what they were like before hand.

Yeah, same goes with a 2 year contract. What's the point

But an extra 5/8000 people per game might help.

Hate to say I told you so.

Next time lets wait until we have actual quotes from said player and said players manager.

Not sure why anyone should feel embarrassed?

The FFA maybe, they did put it out there. Then again ADP's camp said similar about a move down under.

Exactly.  Those 30 points will make NO difference to the team.

This got me thinking, what team has scored the most points with a Guest playing on the park. These are the 2 best I can think of.

Heart & Madaschi: 8 starts, 1 sub - 21 points.
Jets & Jeffers: 9 starts, 0 sub - 17 points.

Anyone else get the feeling the FFA has secured the contract for beckham, and are now shopping him out to the A league clubs?

Allegedly

It would be very funny if we did get him.  We could invite John Key to come to a game.

Key should be shirt sponsor

I raised this question on Twitter before going to work, but what is the FFA's role in this?

Are they laying the ground work, finding out the costs etc and passing it onto the clubs for them to decide if they want to approach Beckham's agents?

Or are the FFA looking at arranging the whole thing, then planning on auctioning off the 10 game guest stint to the clubs?

Permalink Permalink

Maybe 5 clubs could get him for 2 games each?
