Some more news on the buying of Gosford Stadium.

COUNCIL CEO CONFIRMS MARINERS’ STADIUM APPROACH

Central Coast Council CEO Rob Noble confirmed the Mariners have approached him to look into different ownership models, including buying or leasing, for Central Coast Stadium.

Mr Noble admitted council had not managed the venue as well as it could have. “In the past the stadium has not maximised its opportunities,” he said.

“We need to think about what maximum value we can deliver for the community and compare and contrast that with whatever offer might be received.

“There are a number of possible options for the use of the stadium should it remain in the Central Coast Council’s ownership and we want to maximise the opportunities from having the stadium.

“Whatever we do must be in the best interests of the community.”

Mr Noble said once the council received a formal offer from the Mariners it would not necessarily have to wait until a publicly elected council was formed to make a decision.

“Legally we could make such a decision, but I have indicated to them that we do need to do some analysis to consider their proposal and we’re more than happy to discuss these options with the Mariners,” he said..

Napier's McLean Park has the best seats of anyone. When there's 20 people in their stand creating movement with their standing up or sitting down, the whole stand looks a lot more full than it is. At Westpac, it is brilliant in a full stadium but sadly, the yellow exposes crowd sizes alarmingly bad with any crowd under 20k.

We just signed Alan Baro as a central defender

http://www.ccmariners.com.au/article/central-coast-mariners-sign-alan-baro/6v60vhjbelvy1bnd11ccanfde

key points...

Baro is a proven defender who, before joining Melbourne Victory, earned more than a decade of experience plying his trade in Spain with the likes of Osasuna, Alicante and SD Ponferradina -

The Central Coast Mariners continue to build for the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season with the signing of Australian defender Antony Golec.

The 27-year-old defender returns to Australia after plying his trade abroad with FC Sheriff Tiraspol (Moldovan National Division), Persepolis FC (Persian Gulf Pro League) & most recently Bucheon FC 1995 (K League Challenge).

Top 5 Hyundai A-League transfers for 2017/18

The Australian Youth International has signed a one-year-deal and will be known to Australian football fans for his 59 combined appearances in the Hyundai A-League with Sydney FC, Adelaide United, Western Sydney Wanderers and Perth Glory.

Golec made his Hyundai A-League debut with Sydney FC against Melbourne Victory in 2008 and was part of the Western Sydney Wanderers’ 2014 AFC Champions League title and the club’s fifth placed finish in the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup campaign.

Massive rumour and being reported on SBS as a done deal

De Silva to re launch his career at the Mariners...

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2017/06/15/de-silva-set-sign-mariners-get-career-back-gear

Further to the De Silva rumour ... no idea whats happened to the kid maybe left to early ... but this is what he was like 18 months ago and he is still only 20.. he also credits Okon I hear with a lot of his early coaching...

If he signs not only because he will be good for us ... but this talent will be good for the league and put bums on seats... enjoy

are you guys spending the full cap this year?

I have no real knowledge of players salaries - the figures quoted below are an educated guess and I may be horribly wrong. But yes we are spending to the full cap and maybe a marquee.

With probably close to $1.6m to spend to the cap and the possibility of a marquee, the quality to come in will be higher than most of what we have been used to. I assume we will sign Adelson as squaddie for not a lot (as LB and RB cover) and De Silva to take us to 16 players and a backup keeper to 17 with 5 players to sign.

No idea what De Silva will cost but don't think he will be massively expensive.

That would probably leave us with the best part of $1.3m to spend on those 5 players. Assuming a marquee is number 19 (not promised but hinted at) then Okon will have an average of $300,000 to spend on players 22-22 ( A keeper won't cost that much but that will only up the average for the other spots). We could also sign another squad player

If that is the case only 3 at best of last years players are likely to feature in the first XI. There is no doubt about it - this is a massive rebuild.

So you're going from spending the minimum to getting marquees?

it's probably not a bad strategy in a league with no relegation. Spend minimum for a few seasons, save the money, then go big for a season or two.

Hola! A striker.

Going by the full name of Félix Asdrúbal Padrón Hernández, he has spent most of his career with hometown club, Las Palmas in the Canary Islands and has played in La Liga — though most recently he was briefly signed to a Thai team.

Though his goalscoring record is not prolific...

For the last 8 seasons seasons we have had yellow and black stripes in some variation. Last two deviated away from that, but you can't tell me that their yellow and dark navy blue aren't close to what we've had.

Of course it is close to what we had, but it is different to what we have had for the last 2 years.

I think it is  a bit shark, but we can't move away from our so called traditional stripey to "something stripeyish" (Domes words) then grizzle when someone gets something close to our original stripey.

Even in their all yellow strip, we would wear a change strip when playing them as they would when they play us at home.

More important things in the world to be outraged at imho
