Even though it seems stupid to compare football leagues, we do it anyway right? And I feel like there's been a general consensus over the years that the A-League has grown to around equal to the Championship in terms of squad quality. (For example, Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC, WSW, could go toe-to-toe with Championship clubs and be able to stay up if they shared a league.)

However, since the arrival of Roberto Di Matteo, Rafa Benitez, chinese owners and 10m+ transfers, would an A-League club still survive in the championship?

An A-League club is nowhere near good enough to be in the Championship, the Championship is something like the 5th or 6th richest league on the planet, a marquee contract for Wellington would pay for a squad player in a top championship team. Chris Woods salary alone is probably more than half of an entire A-League team.

The amount someone gets paid doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of what they produce.
