You'd have been apopleptic watching Ivan Vicelich on Sunday then.

Can't disagree with the card comment and it was cynical, but how being one on one with the keeper having regained your balance and missing earns you a re-take mystifies me.  As someone said, it's not rugby.

From a highly ranked NZ ref:

the advantage is the shot on goal. Its not the referees fault that the players fumble it because of poor skill and thats what referees are coached on. i.e. if you get an advantage that leads to a shot on goal, if you don't put it in, thats not the refs fault because of your skill and we don't go back.

Just bc refs plays advan shouldn't make any diff to the punishment for cheating as last defender.

To be clear I am convinced it should have been a red for cynical foul by last defender.
Somewhat more open minded re whether should go back for free kick after advan, but have little sympathy for cheating. If cheat then you risk giving opposition two chances. But appreciate it does raise question when advan ever over, although diff threshold mifgt apply re goalscoring opportunity
