Football Kingz - 20 year anniversary of NZ joining NSL and A-League

I know, I know - it's been a while.

Something I haven’t seen getting any attention anywhere is that 2019 is the 20th anniversary of the Football Kingz joining the NSL, starting an ongoing NZ presence in the top Australian league. Seems like a significant milestone in the context of current ‘metrics’ discussions.

Would be good to see the Phoenix, New Zealand football and the media trying to get a bit of mileage out of this. For better or for worse, a 20 year investment by NZ in Aussie football (& vice versa) is something to be celebrated, and crucially - something to be nurtured.

The actual anniversary of the Kingz first game is October 1 2019, nicely timed for the start of the next A-League season.

Postie's hat, Alex Rufer's dad arguing with the opposing coach in German, Brandon's flag, being allowed to have a kick around on the pitch after the game.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I know I'm dreaming but wouldn't it be beautiful if 1 October 2019 was the date the Phoenix signed a new 20 year license?

By the way the NSL only started in 1977, which is 42 years ago. A club from NZ has been involved for basically half of that time.
