Australia don't allow tea leaves in anymore.

Interesting aspect of it to me, is Man Utd plays an All Star side, yet Liverpool would be playing a club side.

Maybe Man U will play Liverpool in Australia...

Liverpool played Tottenham in the USA last year so it isn't that farfetched.

Two reports I've read have never mentioned a club side. Have just said that MU are playing  an All Star X1 on the saturday and the Liverpool game would be midweek on the wednesday.

The Age reported it as the Victory were going to play them.

They'd be silly not to consider a preseason tournament then wouldn't they?

have all 3 sides play each other.

Damien Souness @dsouness

As suspected, Liverpool v Melbourne Victory @MCG Thursday, July 25, according to @Michael_Zappone, only game #LFC will play in Australia

So they could still play in nz...

It would make sense for us to try and piggy back onto their trip to Australia.

This one seems to have gone a bit quiet lately. Is this cause for concern?

Disappointed there hasn't been any more news on this. There are flights on sale for today only from Wellington to Melbourne for $140 for the week this game was supposed to be so it's very tempting to book anyway.

This Is Anfield @thisisanfield

#LFC have confirmed their pre-season tour will go to Asia this summer. Also expected to visit Australia.
Not an official account tho.

I hope they bring Andy Carroll.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Well I'm all booked! Flights for the morning of the 25th, so fingers crossed the game is then, otherwise I'll be having a long weekend in Melbourne!

Ray Gatt @Gatty54

Victorian government to announce officially that Liverpool will be playing Melbourne Victory at MCG on July 24. Should break tomorrow.

Welnix to tag along and bring them to the cake tin? They were talking about bringing a Premier League team over.

Permalink Permalink

That was going to be Tottenham, who pulled out the day after the Nix went public with the idea to bring them here.

Liverpool FC will make history this summer when they visit Australia for the first time after the Club announced today that they will play in Melbourne as part of their 2013 pre-season tour presented by Standard Chartered.
The Reds will take on Hyundai A-League side Melbourne Victory on Wednesday 24th July with the game to be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Got my flights (re)booked! So excited!

Has anyone seen any substantial ticketing information yet? All I've found is 'tickets on sale from ticketek 11 April' but can't see anything on the ticketek website, and can't even find prices and such anywhere. Has this info been released yet?

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite

The email I got today suggests you don't need to be a member for the home end tickets but have to stand and sing. Classic!

Has Liverpool ever played in front of 100k before? Not many stadiums around the world are that big. Will be one heck of an experience.
