Only 7590 turn up for game on Saturday....maybe the A-LEAGUE is in trouble, cause they would have made NO money from this game

Thats appauling. Is there anything else going on in Gosford on a Saturday night for such a small turn out.  Last weeks game got only 10k as well.  Wonder if this whole Newcastle Jets thing is turning fans off the A-League?

Hope Brisbane gets a sell out anyway.

There has to be a good reason for that crowd. Central Coast normally get quite decent crowds. I think more people would go if it was the club who received the revenue from the game rather than the FFA.

I remember when we went to sydney the crowd was also poor.

They don't hype or market the finals enough in my opinion. But it has to be a combination of factors for finals crowds to be so poor.

Allegedly

Central Coast fans are all Gypsies and as it is currently school holidays all the Caravan parks are booked up so they had to move away from Gosford!

Were the tickets much more expensive than normal?

OK Serious answer:

Promotion for fixtures that do not feature the 2 biggest clubs in the League will always be difficult. You are aiming at an area with about 1/10th of the population of the largest 2 cities and when the other side is Perth who are situated on the other side of a very large island then you have slim chance of padding out the numbers with away fans.

By the look of it Perth brought about as many to the game as the Roar did the week earlier.

And Tony Sage is chartering that plane for this weekend so there should be a plane-load of them at Suncorp.

Maybe even more for the final. Pretty sure Tony Sage has organised a charter flight to ship as many of the Glory faithful over as possible.

According to A-League twitter only 5000 tickets left for grand final.  How many does suncorp hold?  should be  good crowd anyway.

Watching the game tonight, the pitch is looking a bit cut up.

52,000 apparently. So yes, a very good crowd!

This may be why the A-League is talking about ditching the preliminary final next year.

Article suggest they want to cut it down to 3 weeks worth of finals. Article mentions a 5 team, and 6 team option, how would a 5 team option work over 3 weeks? Personally i would go with 5 teams over 4 weeks, like the NRL used to do.

And in 5 out of 7 of those cases the preliminary final was actually 2 weeks after the hosts played the first leg at home. Which just highlights what a hard sell the preliminary final is (might have been easier to understand if it was the other way round).
