Labour Day in NSW and SA.

Sydney v CCM, followed by Adelaide v Newcastle....both live on SS3.

McGlinchey plays for CCM then flies to Bahrain tonight.

Fingers crossed no injury to McGlinchy.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Ahhhh quality excuse for not doing my essay this is! Im thinking Mariners up 5-0 at HT with McGlinchey dominating but McKinna thinking at HT "You know I really want NZ to qualify for the World Cup, you have a seat young Michael"

Ball comes in, 4 defenders around McFlynn but somehow he gets the head on it and drills it. Syd 1-0

Halftime 1-0, Sydney pretty good but CCM have been getting the ball into the right areas just need to start putting the final touch on it.

I must say I really like the look of McGlinchey.  He always wants the ball, is tidy on it and plays a good ball in a narrow channel to his strikers, rather than always looking wide.  The Phoenix could use that sort of player.

For the All Whites, I guess he'll be employed wider in a 4-4-2 with Elliott and Brown in the central roles, but he looks great at the point of the diamond in CCM's formation.

Hopefully he'll do what Bertos did and end up in Wellington.

Heard that little Mac was superb. Anyone watch it? Good to have him in form before the big one.

mcglinchey was absolutely stellar, yes a shame he had a couple of lame, unfit donkeys in front of him. and also travis had his poorest game of the season, so mcglinchey stood out like a sore thumb. exactly the player the phoenix could do with...

more importantly tho - seriously, nicky mrjda is the biggest lump of steaming pig turd ever to set foot in the A-League (and that is saying something). i remember watching him back in the day in the old nsl and thinking he was quite classy at the time (big, strong, fast, powerful).

this season tho, he is a complete joke to watch. it's like he's drunk, blindfolded, and has his shoelaces tied together. i think that if you gave jenny shipley a pair of footy boots made out of concrete she would still have a better touch than mrdja. i actually almost feel really sorry for him, between fits of laughter. how simon could be left on the bench for him is beyond me.

Simon wasn't on the bench - he's had a hip injury and didn't pass a fitness test.

Agree about Mrdja though....very average.

Why Song when we've got McGlinchey and Elliott :)

Would like Ljubo if he wasn't such an idiot

Doh - dead right. still, they would have been better with a cardboard cut out of simon rather than mrdja.

adelaide's fall from grace astounds me - with fyfe at fullback, and also hughes & owusu, they are going completely against their naturally quick counter-attacking style, with their small, fast, fullbacks,   mids and forwards all surging forward. they used to be a delight to watch. now it's just painful.

Owusu seems to be a real problem for them. He's a big demanding sort of guy, the archetypal targetman, so almost all the ball is aimed for him. Cassio and Dodd, two of the better players in the league when running at defences are being made redundant by route one tactics.

Jets worth the lead, probably should have a couple.
