Presumably, unless the Jest management are claiming it is a case f the players violating their contracts, they'll be paid out of the rest of their contracts. Which then means it comes off the salary cap, right? Or is this a mutual termination with no payout? If it does come off the cap then the Jest have no hope of replacing them this season

The player sack under disciplinary apparently had already had three warnings. "Tinkler, reinforcing what press release said: "Carney has three strikes against his name and has been let go because of behavioural issues."

I hope that puts to bed any wet dream of us ever chasing Carney. I have more faith in Doyle at this point. Carney used to score magnificent goals with his left foot in the past, also for the Socceroos, but that is all in distant past, in my opinion.

Sounds like its Jeronimo, Caravella and Neville who don't wish to play for Stubbins any more.

Surely Stubbins position is untenable at this point? Not sure how he hasn't been sacked already. He's clearly lost the dressing room. How many more players can they afford to have leave?

My guess would be that one of the reasons Stubbins hasnt been sacked because he is probably on a sharke paying contract meaning it isnt in Tinklers interest to cut him and replace him with someone better qualified.

Tinkler is broke hence why he cut his 5 highest payed players (stupid move anyway as their severence still comes out of the salary cap) and 3 of the coaching staff.

early this season he had some impressive performances in a clearly shark team - I don't buy the press release above - he is just trying to get rid of the guys who know the coach is pants.

Carney is horse at LB but has looked pretty decent playing further forward this year. Reckon anyone who does this doesn't deserve to play for us.

He fired all senior players, they are the probably ones who stood up for the rest of team. I don't think that is a win for Tinkler, Stubbins. What's left is team defeated by the owner and trained by a coach they don't like. They won't sign any quality player in the near future.

Well Ange basically did the same thing at Brisbane by getting rid of senior players. sure this is on a different scale, but sometimes you need to clean out the dressing room to change the culture.

It is something on history can judge, will Stubbins have the time to prove that he was right?

Maybe we put the last a nail in his coffin on 22th Feb?

Probably didn't want to work with the club either. Nothing much in their statement.

Given how many youth players will be promoted, I guess there isn't a need for a youth team coach.

"...

Former Olyroos striker Travis Cooper arrived in Newcastle from the United Kingdom on Friday and, pending a medical, will be added to the roster as an injury replacement for James Virgili.

Defender Daniel Mullen has been released by Western Sydney Wanderers and is poised to join the Jets for the rest of the season.

Brisbane Roar third-string keeper Matt Acton trained on Friday and is likely to fill the void left by Birighitti.

The Jets are believed to be close to finalising deals with Thai-based Spanish defender David Rochela, Northcote City (Victorian premier league) captain Adrian Chiappetta and former North Queensland Fury midfielder Alex Smith.

The transfer window closes on Tuesday but does not apply to players who are not under contract.

Mullen’s departure has opened the way for Gallaway to join Wanderers’ A-League roster after signing a deal for the Asian Champions League last month."

I hear Shane Falco is a potential signing for the Jets.

The reason Con Constantine originally managed to get hold of the then National Soccer League licence was by playing up the fact that the Breakers players were owed superannuation payments. Con then post the licence to Tinkler for the same reasons...

Do you really?  This galvanised the Knights (with Ricki's help) and turned the side into one that could have made the play-offs had it happened earlier.

Is Ricki better than Stubbins?

It's a good point - Ricki has successfully turned around a club and built a club in the A-League. So while he doesn't have a record of taking a club to the highest point he does have a pretty good record of bring a club up to a good level in a short period of time.

Tinkler should seriously consider him.

Agree Ryan. Ricki gives the players a name straight away that players can't really 'question' in terms of 'and what have you done?' He'll be defensive but when you have shipped 7 and have a team of rookies, he will organise them straight away.

Unless this is the Ricki from his final days at the Nix/AWs.  Still I'd like him to get in there, just to have a kiwi manager in the comp again.

I don't think Ricki is a bad coach. I just think his time was up due to longevity in the role and people start tuning you out and you become a bit immune to things and I guess complacent. I think in a fresh environment, he will produce. It's the cycle of coaching. The key is knowing when the right time to get out is so you are not the tiller in charge of a rudderless ship. That's what Ricki got wrong at the Phoenix and AWs

the season before ricki left we finished 4th and arguably our best season to date (this season looking likely to eclipse all before). Would have been rather out there to quit after that season.
