Brockie playing. Newcastle started the better - should've scored.

I'll give Bridges 3 points for the dive...

Some comedy refereeing there: clear trip on Bridges in the area but he gets a card for diving.

Loathe the Jets but I was cheering like it was a Nix goal.

This is the year of the Kiwis
Kosta getting MoM for Brisbane, Brockie scoring, Smeltz scoring (unfortunately)
The funny thing is that the only NZers that didn't star are the ones at the Nix :Pvaleo2010-08-13 23:28:24

Heart don't seem to have the ability or the players to step things up a gear. Still playing some nice passing footy but not much momentum going forward.

Terra and Sibon show glimpses but thats about it

First goal scorer for Melbourne Heart: Ben Kantarovski
Cultured own goal, I must say.

I genuinely thought that was a Newcaslte goal such was the finish. Terrible OG.

Bloody hilarious own goal from Kantarovski. Frankly the only way Heart looked like scoring.

LOL @ Kantarovski...seriously. That was a great finish with no-one challenging him.

Wow.
That is an own goal for the A-league record books

Good pass from Worm in that lead-up as well, his first real act of class.

And the season of stalemates (at least so far) continues. 7 matches played, one win (1-0) and six consecutive draws.
Heart would be pleased with a point here.

FT 1-1.
Heart needs an actual striker. There seems to be a big hole up front there.

Sibon is a good striker. Their problem is in midfield I reckon. They are all useless or playing badly.valeo2010-08-14 00:17:28

But Sibon wants to spend too much time playing from a deep position. He was often way too far back or too wide for Heart to capitalise on their possession, whether the mids were good enough or not.
I think Sibon could become quite a handful for defences but their balance up front is all wrong - a bit like the problem we had last season trying to lever Greenacre into an attacking role.

I was predicting no draws for this round, not sure if you can make a bet like that or what odds you could expect. Might enquire about it during the week.

Sibon has to drop back because he's getting no service from midfield. He is like van Dijk but has the potential to perform better in the A-League than SvD ever has imo
