I think you would be surprised, although they wouldn't be a top side they would be very capable of scoring goals, defending would be what they lacked in.

With the proposed financial backing and support from the French, I'm willing to bet there would be room for a few quality imports. Who's to say they couldn't buy a Brazilian like other A-league clubs? Id bet they would have access to some really good French players also.
They would have good consistent crowds also as Footballs the big game in NC.
Although AFC are bound to say 'no way'.
I think they will do well, It will help open the door for a few kiwis no doubt.
As for the AFC well the OFC 11 side wont be asking and pushing for a ACL spot as the Nixs have done, Also they will not be a Australian club, they will be a OFC club so the stupid sh*t that MBH vomited up wont have any affect with them.

This is all great news for the Phoenix staying in the A-League with kiwi players. I know quite a bit about the French scene having lived and worked their recently. Christian Karembu is  very well known and highly respected in Europe and has a lot of big contacts in UEFA and FIFA. He is a personal friend of Blatter and Platini.

He is a very powerful figure to go in to bat for non Asian Conf countries playing in the A-League. The Oceania eleven concept is quite advanced. He already has arranged significant financial support and the organisation seems quite advanced. There is no way he would have made this announcement without having first run it past the top guys in FIFA. Oceania is FIFA's weakest Conference and they want to improve the quality.

The situation with the Oceania eleven will be even more complicated than the Phoenix situation. New Caledonia is not a seperate country. They are French nationals with French passports. So you could have a situation where the Noumea team would have Vanuatu, Solomon nationals plus French citizens from New Caledonia and Tahiti plus some French mainland nationals to give the side strength.

If Blatter wants this to happen it will happen....which is great for the Phoenix coz we will be coat tailed in on the change in regulations needed to get the Oceania team into the A-league....
its great news...we have some powerful people on our side. FIFA will not let the AFC shut this down.
