R12 Other A league games

6 goals in a game does not make it a great game because the Perth draw was a better watch. I watched another 15 and still thought it was crap football. The Man U game was a better watch. They open the game up and don't try to play as if they live in a 10 y square and every one needs to be in it. In this league, if you play with width and open the game out, you will sit in the top half of the table quite easily. I get the short football but you can play 20y passes and open the game to stretch the defenders out and find the holes a hell of a lot easier than tiki taka. I'm watching the Melbourne game and there is pretty much always 6-7 players within 5 yards of the ball cause no one opens it out.

Which is why they always play backwards. Boxed in, no options, too many bodies, go backwards.

Did anyone actually call it a 'great game' or are we just jumping on people for enjoying a match with lots of goals and drama in it?

You missed one of the best games of the month.

Ah I see. Well I thought it was very entertaining watch in the 2nd half. Mariners started to look quite good after scoring, apart from blowing their leads.

Do agree that a game can be 0-0 and still be awesome, I guess like a lot of people though I do enjoy the drama and emotion of goals and the lead swinging from one team to another. If you like good defending that'd be a frustrating game to watch! The Perth vs City game yesterday was a better standard, but I enjoyed this one as much. Maybe was just happy the brass band shut up once the game livened up more.

It was a decent game with lots of action, goals and QPR type defending.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Stop being a dick. I did not say it was a 'great ' game.

I can't comment for the drama of it Colvinator but your point is valid. To be fair to Leggy, I did miss the better part of the game (5 goals) so that point is valid but the best game in a month? Not likely.

Victory don't look as penetrating so far tonight as I'd expected. Sneak a goal in you Jets!

If you did not see it how can you make that comment?

No other comments are barking up the same tree as you are. Volume/body of evidence.

Looks like a soft (light) cast, probably after a wrist injury - it can be taken off after a game.

You would not want to get an accidental smack in the mouth with it though (even if it is not a plaster cast).

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Ugh, such a stink free kick to give away.

That was an excellent free kick by Finkler. Well worth staying up for.

I thought the Jets defender made contact with the ball.

Yes, they only showed the replay once, I wasn't sure it was a foul or not, but the way he clattered in did give I the appearance of a foul.

I've noticed this trend to play close control, short pass interplay and not just the A League. Mix it up with penetrating throgh balls and you can crack open a packed midfield. Chelsea play the same close control then break out with direct through pass. Champions League style.
