Pelligra's Glory FC
This surely guarantees that Auckland and Canberra aren't going to happen any time soon, not with two existing clubs like this. $25million is a bat shark insane price for entry to this league.
Sage was in talks with a new ownership group but iirc, he couldn't agree on a price. With the APL now in charge, I think they will be more willing to come to an agreement.
No doubt they will settle on a lower price but surely if it ends up being less than $25 million it destroys the APLs asking price for expansion teams?
Feel sorry for Sage. Seems like he’s been a good owner in many ways and got screwed over a bit by pandemic and refurbs.
Rumours are there's new owners already lined up.
EXCLUSIVE: Former Perth Glory owner Nick Tana has been linked to a potential purchase of the A-League club by WA soccer stalwarts. https://t.co/o46RSVyoji .

May- “I will spend money on the game but I’ll be damned if I’m going to pay for something that’s basically in diabolical straits at the moment. Nor would I put a penny in Tony Sage’s pockets.”

Surely it’s not so much the state of the club, but of his other businesses? And I know he’s done some daft things but surely he didn’t have to pay too much for a guy that hardly played?
And he’s been there for a long time right? And he’s much better thought of than the Sports Direct guy was in Newcastle (UK model)?
Feel for the guy because it seemed like the football side was coming right under Zadkovich. The mix was a lot of young locals.
Oh well. That’s the A league.

Good luck Oli Sail. What a terrible decision to go to WA.

Wonder what's going through his head at the minute with this whole Perth sharkshow seemingly just imploding around him. Seriously not a good look for the league either - Glory, Jets, Victory all on the ropes.

Probably something like: "at least I'm not with those podunk losers the Phoenix anymore"
But yeah a bit different from Zadkovich and David Williams and the Western revival that was happening at the end of last season…
But it’s a funny game football. He’s got 3 years on paper, a new owner comes in, Danny Hay or another ambitious Aussie coach and things could turn around very quickly…

looking forward to seeing Alen Stajcic coaching @PerthGloryFC .. arguably one of our best, he's just what the ailing club needs on the park ...@aleaguemen pic.twitter.com/mV43AyinxT

Exactly I wouldn't get all smug on the Glory's current situation. Plenty of cash floating around mineral rich WA. Rumours that new owners are lined up. It could all turn around pretty quickly.
Perth Glory will make a major club announcement tomorrow morning at 9am via media conference. New coach announcement is my guess. #aleagues

Compare Montgomery and Popovic. You’d think one is clearly the better coach, but last season’s results were quite stark in being the opposite of that.
Thought Zadkovich had been doing well. Will have to see how Stajcic goes.

Small update on the Glory takeover: The deal would needed to have been ratified by Football Australia to be completed — but the final stage of the sale was unable to be completed, as it did not progress past the APL’s regulatory processes. https://t.co/LMHgXbfFCP
