All they will force people to do is find ways to cheat the cap like they have.  How is that good for the long term viability of the league ?

Right now I have serious doubts about the long term viability of the league if after four years you are going to be allowed to buy a title.  It's exactly why the cap exists to stop that.

Have they really, though? You have proof? When they are relying on guys like Pantelidis, Pior and Rees i'm not so sure. Depends how much the Brazilians cost them I suppose.

On another note, Bleiberg says that Brisbane played better in the post match interview haha. Even those he's a cock it's good to have some personality.

One would hope the FFA have the will and integrity to learn from the GCU experience and police things more carefully in future (yeah, right).
 
The good thing is that any GCU game is probably going to add a few thousand to each team's home gate because of the buzz surrounding them. And you'd hope that there will be a positive knock-on effect of teams raising their game to compete, leading to more exciting games and in the long run an improvement in the standard of the A League.

I don't mind Smeltz getting some goal scoring form so he is warm and ready for the WCQ games for the AWs.

If our strikers both score hattricks in the lead up to the gold coast game and then score one or two each against them, im not sure wed be missing smeltzy

Just watched the highlights, though GCU look very dangerous. Especially Culina/Smeltz/Porter.

Gutting seeing as the latter two could have been our strikeforce..

They do look dangerous up front but quite vunerable at the back, although the Dutch defender is good.

Got the TV on with the replay of this game.  Watched ten minutes before and left for more pressing matters (left the TV on for the sake of ratings, mind).  Anyway, Brisbane absolutely butchered a chance in the first half.  The keeper mucked up and Nichols molly-coddled for ages before passing and by the time he'd passed a defender was there to block it - if he'd been a few seconds earlier it'd have been a goal for sure.

Their new player, Robson, is class.  Yes, I've only seen a few minutes of him play but if he can continue in that fashion he could be the next Fred if not better.  Would help him to learn English though.

Henrique was the better of the two Brazilians on the pitch. Robson looked rusty but will surely improve. The goal he scored was good but any midfielder worth his salt should be able to plant it when he has an unopposed run on goal with only a plump Scotsman chasing him.
