Playing devil's advocate here...notwithstanding the fact that we all know Rudes is a couple of sandwiches short of a pic nic, how could the PFA intervene and allow a player to leave for free simply because his relationship with the coach has 'soured'?
Didn't WU ask for a transfer fee?

Don't get me wrong, Rudan is a tosser but this worries me a bit

Unlike other leagues around the world, the A-League has a strong players union. Every time a player has been forced to train by themselves etc, they have stepped in. They will have helped arbitrated a solution to McDonald being frozen out by Rudan.

My bad I forgot we only recently enabled club to club player loans and not transfer fees...

Re PFA, then WU were iditiots for isolating him and giving the PFA a chance to swoop in. Or maybe they were happy to let go of him as his wages would be fairly high

Twitter is abuzz with Rojas sightings in Melbourne. If it's City he's going to, I can't wait to see all the butthurt Victory fans cry snake, just like they did with Barbarouses.

Of course, the Victory *did* produce those two talents from grassroots, so they have every right to be aggrieved with the news! /s

Surely this paves the way for Rojas on a multi-year, big(gish) $$$ contract? Guess we'll wait and see for a confirmation.

He can be then work towards becoming the big fish in the pond once more. Still a bit disappointing he couldn't kick on in Europe, but them's the breaks...

Yes I can't help but feel Marco will do really well in the A-League once again.

I think most of us had really high hopes for him and that's why we've been so disappointed with his European performances.

Maybe this is just his level, maybe he was unlucky not to find the right place for him to flourish over in Europe.

Wonder where Marguš is off too. He is away with the Olyroos, so can't really be an IR for Moss.

Would a NZ born player, with a NZ passport, but say an Australian parent, be considered an Australian player if signing for an Australian A-League club, or would they be classed as a Visa player? (for simplicity, assume no declaration of player allegiance to either country)

If having an Australian parent qualifies as Australian, would that also apply for grandparents (per FIFA eligibility)

I remember hearing stories that Cristiano Ronaldo had an Australian grandparent and technically could've been a Socceroo if he so chose.

Also, when there were rumors that Samaras could've come to the league, people went digging and found an Aussie grandparent of his, which would've qualified him as a local too

They'd have to claim the Australian citizenship they are entitled to (assuming they have an Australian citizen parent).

Heck of a signing if there is any truth to that. Atm its just a couple people messaging ALH with info, probably from a random account that tweeted it.

That operation wouldn't have come cheap.

Does the fact that marquee players don't count towards the celery cap technically mean you can fire and recruit as many as you want if you have the money to do that?
