Given the financial state of the league, giving some of these young guys nice long contracts is one sure fire way for clubs to look to drive up sale prices down the line. It's a medium to long term strategy, but it's not a bad one.
I'd expect to see more of that sort of stuff to be honest.
Is it also the longest contract ever awarded in the A-League? Saw some chatter around it, but didn't dive in too deeply.

I can think of two 4 year deals, Vedran Janjetovic (WSW) and Shannon Brady (Roar). Can't think of any 5 year ones.
