Round 16

HT MC 2 CCM 1

All action 1st half, two goals to Cahill, one to O'Donovan who was then the victim of the new elbow crackdown and was straight red carded midway through. As Zelic succinctly put it, "I'm so sick of talking about refereeing decisions. You just want to watch the game".

Could get nasty for CCM 2nd half.

City miss about a billion chances and it finishes 2-1. Gutsy effort from CCM to stay in the game.

What length of ban is O'Donovan up for?

I think it was a red, there are new rules that are for referees to get tough around arms/hands to the head. In the reply you can see he kind of looked where he was before throwing his arm up. You put your arm up like that and you risk the card and that is what he got. Saying that, I see him only getting a 1 match ban for it.

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

I think his defence is not good because of this. That, and the fact he has previous suggests a ban of more than 1 game (straight reds usually get more than 1, unless they are very marginal a la Roy's).

I know, I know, its serious!

That is a definite red.  No issues there.  Don't see it being more than the 1 game though.  Players need to learn not to throw their arms/elbows up like that.  There's no need for it.

Sydney are playing Adelaide tonight.  Can't see anything other than a Sydney win here.

Adelaide have been improving but Sydney will be desperate for the 3 points, going Sydney 2-1

I thought this game was on a pop up channel, saw a bit of the prematch, now getting this message.  WTF sky???

did this kick off at 9-30 or is it just about to kick off

Seriously, what's the difference between that ugly Ryan Grant tackle and Krishna's a few weeks back? Difference is if you play for the glamour club you'll get away with a yellow.

edit: have just remembered it was Shaun Edwards reffing that game too. Learned from his mistake perhaps?

just kicked off

And it is still boring as batshark

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

It put me to sleep, glad I didn't miss anything

Reds getting lucky with dodgy offside calls. That's two weeks in a row that legitimate goals against them have been disallowed.

Permalink Permalink

Not much to write home about in that half, Sydney unlucky with an offside decision but these things even out over the season. 0-0

Doesn't look like a huge crowd for this game.

Brosque puts it in the back of the net, sydney 1 nil.  Galekovic must have thought it was going wide, he didn't really move.

And suddenly its 2-0

and before you know it Ninkovic adds another

Might be the first time this season that Sydney get a bad offside call against them...sadly they are now 2-0 up.

Bugger, game was so dull I left the room for two minutes, come back in and it's 2-0!

That plastic bag making its way down the field is awesome

Permalink Permalink

Massive tosser that he undoubtedly is Matt Simon is a brilliant impact sub in the last 15-20 minutes of games. His ball protection and hold up play is top quality.

11,255 attendance. They were suggesting some bad weather kept fans away ... I didnt see any win or rain!

I did not see any packed stands, either. Fickle Sydney fans, they only turn up for classy opposition like Phoenix.

WSW score first, Lochie Scott with the goal

Permalink Permalink

Scott opens the scoring just before half time, 1-0

Permalink Permalink

Ball sneaks thru a crowd in the box and its 2-0. That should be the game

That's enough now Wanderers, don't get carried away.

WSW win 2-0 but not enough to know us out of the top 6.

Breathing a sigh of relief for now.  Lets see what next week brings us
