Raised in Australia, his first passport was Australian and he is playing at GCU as an Australian not a New Zealander.

As long as he plays 4 the All whites we can claim him cant we, after all Australia has claimed Pharlap, Crowedhouse and Russel Crowe, Lets keep Smeltz and let them have Crowe!

Dunno what you are on about in saying his first this and first that.
Technically the whole Phoenix team is Australian club therefore the All White players are Australians, therefore all other players are Australian because they play in the A-league.
Technically he was born in Germany, so we might as well say he is German.
The New Zealand argument would be that he, first played is A-League football in NZ, first represented NZ U20 and U23 before the national teams.
But his loyalty is to NZ and thats what matters. . .

Is Shane Australian or Kiwi? Is Caster Semenya male or female? It seems there is not always a simple answer.

Not entirely correct.
Modern humans are thought to have evolved in East Africa, however the cradle of civilization refers to the area around Mesopotamia

Correction: The cradle of humankind makes us Africans . . .
However, i am happy to be just a kiwi. I mean nationality/citizenship not the animal.

Touche.
I meant the origin of humans (Africa), rather than modern civilization (the growth of cities in Mesopotamia). My bad.

AWB when has it ever been said that New Zealanders are Australians in the A-League. If this is true why do Australian-based A-League clubs count NZ players as foreign players at their clubs (Such as Brockie). Thats why they going looking for Half Aussies/Half Kiwis like Moss and Smeltz.Technically the whole Phoenix team is Australian club therefore the All White players are Australians, therefore all other players are Australian because they play in the A-league.
