I hate that you can't take a free kick quickly anymore just because the opposition are too busy moaning about the decision to the ref.

I don't mind a quick free kick - Kevin Muscat was an expert at it. Trouble is the trend seems to be just take the kick from wherever you happen to be standing, which is sometimes up to 10 metres away. In my opinion this gives the attacking team an advantage out of proportion to the offence that has occurred.

Yeah it annoys me when referees allow free kicks to be taken miles from the point of the foul,especially if they're inconsistent about it.

But heart (I think - can't even remember!), had it right on the spot..the referee blew it back because he was explaining his decision to 3-4 Perth players who were having a moan. Play on I say,may even stop there from being so much whinging after every decision.

Smeltz seems reluctant to take the shot himself, maybe Perth does ruin good players
