Another Friday night trip to Adelaide. Will be interesting to see if the Jets can bounce back tonight after their disappointment on Sunday

I really dunno where Adelaide are getting their goals from, there isn't many goals in that line up. They are gonna need a lot out of Goodwin to do well this season.

Agree, Reds squad looks a bit ordinary. Will depend on whether Halloran can find his feet but frankly he doesn't strike me as a 15 goal a season kind of guy. They've got Blackwood and Mileusinic too but they are still in the promising rather than proven category.

Think this might be quite a good game.

edit: forgot Diwara but as an import he's only so-so.

I rate Mileusinic but he isn't a 10+ goal kinda player. Diawara should be that guy & he looked like he would be a couple of seasons ago but it just hasn't worked out for him. Talking to Adelaide guys on Twitter, it sounds like they were trying to offload him in the off season but there was no takers.

0-0 at half time, not much to write home about.

No, my predictions of a good game wide of the mark unfortunately.

Too easy for Vargas, 0-1

Fantastic cross by Marrone & header by Goodwin, 1-1

Hoffman blows a near certain chance to regain the lead, free header and he goes straight at Izzo

Better save than they gave it credit for. Game has finally come to life.

Penalty or no penalty?

No penalty

Kurz is a bit of a head case. Pretty much blew off Ernie as he was trying to shake his hand.

Personally I couldn't see a penalty in that incident.

Looks like Blackwood has hurt his shoulder in the challenge, the last thing Adelaide need is less strikers available to them.

I know people have complained about the Fever's ability to carry a tune, but did anyone hear the Adelaide fans last night? I think each member of the Red Army was singing their own versions

Was loads of talk about a massive Tifo by The Cove tonight, this is the leaked image doing the rounds on Twitter. Underwhelming if true?

McCormack scoring against City the most predictable thing to happen this weekend.

Not a good header but there was a huge hole there where a MC midfielder should've been to challenge Pain before he laid it off to McCormack.

Schoolboy defending.

City are so slow in their attack, giving CCM way too much time to get back and cover. Tho in saying that they have had two fantastic chances to score. Not impressed by the French dude up front, maybe they should drag him for Dario to start the second half.

Lol at De Laet insisting that was a perfectly fair challenge. Yellow for his trouble and well deserved.

Switched in second half, this is the worst football I’ve seen in lkng time. Didn’t expect anything from CCM but City are shockingly bad.

It's like they felt they just had to turn up to collect the 3 points. CCM have been good though. Not flash but doing the job defensively so far. Cisse looks like a good pickup.

Nice to see that VAR recognises if you're a diving cheat decisions won't go your way

Although as the commentators pointed out it was more of a pen than the one we were given last week. In one sense I think you are right: it wasn't given purely on the basis that Fornaroli dived last week. They are basically evening things up in the time honoured A League fashion.

I agree entirely. In the laws of the game it was definitely a penalty, but if VAR can do anything hopefully it can reduce the ridiculous BS that goes on inside the box, especially at corners. Fornaroli is a great A League goalscorer but like Suarez I have zero respect for him because of the way he carries on.

In a perfect world we would have post match reviews where all dives and unseen fouls are punished. Then we can encourage more actual footballers like Hazard and Messi to thrive.

It was a foul, but it happened outside the box so it wasn’t overruled. That’s how I saw it.

Just to clarify, it looked like a foul to me but 2 points

1. VAR in the A League has a mind of it's own and appears to have nothing to do with the laws of the game

2. Any time a diving, whining cheat like Fornaroli has something go against him is a win in my book

Amazing that Roly is copping the blame for that 2nd Sydney goal while the WSW player (Hamill?) who was trying to dribble back towards his goal and was robbed by Ninkovic isn't even mentioned. Sometimes I wonder wtf these commentators are thinking.

And now a Roly goal to bring it back to 2-1.

...On christ, here we go again. Beath wipes it out on a VAR check. Fudgeing ridiculous.

Absolute farce, nothing wrong with Bonevacia's goal whatsoever

Jesus..... Why can't VAR be implemented like they did it at the world cup?

Roly's goal was doomed from the moment Beath trotted over to the TV to check it. The incident off the ball was so trivial that it should have been dismissed instantly. Honestly, these guys are ruining the A League. They are just so incompetent.
