Smeltz on the move?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Why the hells he going to China, he should be aiming for England or at least Europe.
Japan would be a good bet for him playing with JEF United.

But it must be money thats the issue as wasn't his whole reason for moving from the nix the 'lifestyle' for his family?

Alas I reckon this would be a step backwards for him rather than forward.

That Japanese team is second division though.

Would love to see him him put the move across to his monstrous wife.

Shane: "Morning sweetheart, I've just had an offer to play in China, what do you thi..."

Sounds of broken glass, someone choking, and then silence.

Seriously, lifestyle-wise NZ (even Wellington I daresay) has to be better than China.

Didn't Ricki say that the All Whites won't play China as they don't want the Asian football style?

The Chinese team were 2008 champs

He's obviously looking for a big payday before he gets too old and fair enough I say.

Yep - sign up for two or three seasons, make a truck load of Yuan and then head back to the Gold Coast.

A lot of the Asian leagues pay well and are a good alternative to Europe.

If Smeltz qualifies under the 3+1 rule then good luck to him.

I reckon he gets a European team, even if its in one of the smaller leagues. Aim for a top side in a small league that can qualify for Europa or Even champions league so that he has a better stage to work on

Smeltz would be better to hold out for the Scandinavian league or Bundesliga. He has a good chance if the AWs plays Germany and he plays well, he is afterall German born.

If we play Germany it means we've made the 3rd place playoff or the final.
You know we belong together...

German citizenship is normally through lineage, rather than where you are born. So highly unlikely that he has German citizenship. I am not sure how this affects EU status.
