And you thought we had trouble with Red Badge / various idiots who don't know that you stand up at the football...

au.442.com wrote:

Melbourne Victory have vowed to work with their fans after anger surfaced over club attitudes to their active supporters and alleged unduly aggressive security staff on match day.

Club representatives made the pledge after last weeks story sparked widespread debate across the Internet.

With active fan numbers at Victory well down on previous years, examples of why the clubs active fans are so disillusioned include:

  • Having to seek permission from the club for all pre-game displays
  • Denial by the club of large-scale tifos
  • And Victory officials not bringing out the fans flags, banners, drums and megaphones.

They also claim supporter items have been confiscated before games while fans have been evicted for handing out flyers that they say officials claim will incite violence.

And alarmingly at recent home games some supporters allege heavy handed security have attacked Victory fans in the stadium.

Picked up by the 'legitimate meedja' -

I guess like most non NT(North Terrace) people, I assumed they were being slightly hysterical and overreactive, but having witnessed incidents and heard accounts of what they've endured (and continue to endure) just so they can support their club, I'm fully supportive of any action they take. I don't want to take my kids to football games that are over policed by glowering riot squad cops ffs. Enough is enough. Chill. The. f**k. Out.

Just read the forum postings. Lol-city.

Notorganic (Tim Tam man?) being wound up majorly about flares by Scouse Roar and others. The megaphone man from the Cakes is there too.

Very amusing.

Telling the cops to ease off the Melban supporters and "Do you understand English?"

Something along those lines - but it was repeated on several separate occasions.

"Police, leave the Melbourne supporters alone. Do you understand English, FFA?"

He's a crack up that bloke. Was absolutely giving it to us at half time in the smokers section when they carved us up at AAMI a few weeks back.

LOL. When I think of "peacemakers", three names come to mind. Buddha. Gandhi. Muscat.

It's very nice of Kev to get involved, but I hope his presence didn't soften or distract from the demands of the supporter groups. I'm assured it didn't, which sounds positive.

I like your new avatar KP.

Wish their were more Fred Perry stockists in New Zealand but it's a bit sh*t really.

Just to get slightly on topic, is Fred Perry favoured among the famous Melbourne Victory casuals?

And so they should!

Plenty of Ben Sherman available in NZ, and reasonably priced I guess. Not much Fred Perry and what there is is f**king dear.

The Fred Perry website is cool. Makes me drool...
