Victory vs Furries

My stream cut out and I missed the last 10. What I did see was an epic game. The Furies will be livid with the ref, but they did wel to share the point. One would have thought the Victory would put away a nine-man North Queensland but alas, no.

It's a weird thing about football that sh*t refereeing can often lead to exciting matches. That was definitely one of the most amazing A leagues games I've seen.

It makes it better for neutrals, that is often the case, but I think if you supported either one of the teams playing this evening you wouldn't be the ref's biggest fan.

Hate to see red caeds but even so was one of the best games in the A league ever. Skill, exictement. Pity all the games are not as good.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

To be fair to them it was actually higher rating league and NPC on all channels, rather than surfing and poker, but still...

Went to the game - one of the best A-League games ever? Whatever. It was a shocker ruined by a rookie ref - bad red cards and bad pens. I hope he got out alive.

Still not sure what the last pen was for? Was down the South End and they didn't play a replay of course.

Gimme a wave, ya bugger! Took the boy to his first game, he had a blast.
Ref was dead set on drugs.

If that was a shocker then bring on more of them I say....as long as they don't involve us that is.

btw he was hardly a rookie ref, just rubbish.

I just saw a replay of the last penalty on the tele. It's hard to say what there was to it. The ref had warned a player about pushing and from what I saw the same player then pushed a guy (possibly in the throat). I suppose if he was warned then fair enough. But you do see that sort of thing at every corner, but I guess that doesn't make it ok.

totally [or partially] unrelated topic but I hope to see more fouls given, when needed, without the fouled player having to dive. I watched the game on the internet and didn't see a clear replay, so don't know whether it should have been a pen, but if someone is obstructing a player to get to the ball (by using hands, arms etc), then shouldn't it be a foul?
I am a big hater of divers but sometimes I do understand why they do it. Nowadays if you don't go down for 2 mins, the ref won't even contemplate blowing his whistle.

this being said, the ref had a shocker yesterday (esp. those 2 red cards).

Just saw replay (well, most of it).
Red cards wrongly awarded in my opinion ("harsh" at best).

Otherwise, I thought the ref was better than a lot of the comment on here implied. Melbourne's pens both correct decisions, and NQ's could be justified from a technical perspective but decidedly harsh (like any penalty awarded when there is jousting and shirt holding at the level that happens during most corners). But ref was inconsistent, so not a good performance on that basis.

I would like to more situations whereby free kicks (and penalties) are awarded yet the infringed player is cautioned for over-acting (= simulation). Maybe both payers get yellow carded. Not a contradiction in my book, and should happen more often.

I know, I know, its serious!
